Teo albergue closed for redecoration

Last night I arrived at the municipal albergue in Teo at 6pm and was told it was closed for decoration. I did not discover when it will reopen. There were no notices of this closure in other albergues or on the Xacobeo website. The hospitalera at Briallos the previous night had not been aware of this closure.

Despite trying several pensions and hostals further on none were open so early in the year. I walked a further 13km to Santiago. This turned a comfortable 34km day into a long 47km - much in rain and growing darkness.

If you intend to use the municipal albergue in Teo in the next few days or weeks I advise you to telephone to confirm it has reopened.

Nearby Teo a Casalonga is hotel O Pazo de Adrán in Milladoiro. Not the cheapest but very comfortable, specially the day before arrival in Santiago.
We paid 90€ for one night but it was well worth every eurocent.
It is 6 minutes from the caminopath. We booked it via Booking.com

Alternative in Teo is casa rural o Cruceiro. The phonenumber is in Brierley's guide.
Great place to stay.. Jacuzzi in the room , the landlady prepares you a great diner if you like.
But reserve some time before. It can be busy or full as we experienced last year. But the alternative Pazo de Adrán was excellent.

Sorry to hear that you had such a mega-route on that day... sounds grueling.
and hope you'll treat your feet / shins / tendons very well now in Santiago.

As I recall - just shortly before the Teo albergue was also a 'pensao' on the left side of the road. with a restaurant downstairs...
too bad it was missed (or perhaps not open) -
at any rate - thanks for posting the update - useful for all the pilgrims on the path right now.

With hindsight it might have been better to backtrack in the direction of Padron, having passed some possible places on the way. Sadly I rarely have hindsight at the moment I need it most Feeling fine today.

For anybody on the route in the next few days/weeks, there are a number of private Hostals within a km or two of the Albergue at Teo. All can be booked through booking.com and I'm sure direct. Map and links below.

Albergue La Calabaza Del Peregrino
Casa San Martino
Rua De Francos
