The serpent of Belorado

The indefatigable Denise Pericard-Mea has recently posted an article on a subject I don't think I've ever heard mention of before, tho apparently Don Elias was aware of it. This is a relic of St James in Belorado, namely a snake that he is supposed to have killed to help a pilgrim. Not publicly visible nowadays but can be seen on request to the sacristy.

Anyone come across this curious tale before?

Hi Nell

Do you think this geezer operated in Ireland under another name?

Poor old snakes - they got a bad press after that biblical write up....

Well in good irish tradition St Patrick chose to banish/export the problem critters rather than killing them
