I plan to download/print a map of Le Puy before I leave, so I won't have trouble navigating when I arrive there. Are there any other towns along the Le Puy route that having a printed or downloaded town map would be particularly useful, whether trying to find the lodging or just get through town and find the GR 65 on the other side?

Hi. Most of the towns are fairly easy to navigate in and through. Maybe Figeac or Moissac would be helpful with a map. We always found that most anybody you meet/run into is very helpful with directions. Le Puy is also pretty compact and easy to get around in.

Moissac and Condom. Cahors is not bad. The worst hour of every day for me was the last, that effort to depart the GR and locate the night's lodging. I found the Maps feature on the iPhone to be wonderfully useful.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Yes, although I used downloaded IGN maps. We'd start walking off, with me staring at the little blinking light and after about ten paces I'd say: "no, go back, wrong road". Quite funny sometimes.
