Train of buss from Santiaog to Leon?

Edith

New Member
Hola pilgrims,

I am flying into Santiago on Tuesday the 11th of April and I want to get to Leon the next day. I was looking at train schedules and realized that there is only one train from/to and the ride takes about 6 hours. It did not make ticket reservations and I hope to be able to buy the ticket from the train station the same morning. Anybody thinks I should buy the ticket in advance? Also, does anybody know if there is another option of getting to Leon?

Warm thoughts,

Edith

Hi Edith,

You could try the bus with Alsa. Website: http://www.alsa.es (change to English, link in top right corner)

I did a quick check and for April 12th you have the following departures from Santiago to Leon:

Departure Arrival Price
08:00 14:30 23,97€
10:00 16:50 24,71€ Change bus in PONFERRADA

Buen camino,
Ivar

Hi Ivar,

First off all, I want to tell you, how wonderful this site is and how much it helped me, plan my Camino. It is just great!!!

It seems that the travel time and price, trains vs. bus, is not that much different, however this option is definitely something I will consider, in case I won’t find tickets at the train station that morning. I am getting the jitters, but with deep breaths I’m sure I’ll manage!!

Thanks again for your reply .
