Travel from Leon to UK

I'll be walking the next section from Burgos to Leon in April. Does anyone know the best way to get back to the UK (preferably Manchester or London) from Leon?
Gerard

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Madrid is fairly easy to reach from Leon by train or bus with many daily flights to the UK. An alternative worth considering is flying from Asturias airport (OVD) north of Oviedo - train or bus from Leon to Oviedo then bus to the airport. Using a flight search site like kayak.com should give you plenty of options.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I've done it a few times from London. Bus from Leon to Oviedo bus station (quite a lot, and quite regular), then another from Oviedo bus station to Asturias airport (very frequent, cheap and about half an hour). Or, train from Leon to Santiago, and then a bus to Santiago airport. Or train/bus from Leon to Madrid.
I always work it out depending on the cheapest flight I can find. I usually pay between £20 - 40 using Ryan Air, Easy Jet, Vueling or Norwegian. All budget, all let you take a backpack as carry-on luggage.
I use Skyscanner which gives a comprehensive run down of flights.

Afternoon,
You can catch a bus directly to and from the airport, although they are less frequent then the bus station in the centre, at Madrid. I have done it a couple of times and never found the need to book. Their are plenty of planes to and from the UK at very reasonable prices. Alternatively catch buses (you need to catch more then one) to Santiago where planes are less frequent and more expensive. Lastly a bus to Santander where planes are again less frequent and more expensive. I found pre booking flights from the UK a lot cheaper BTW. All are pretty easy but its definitely easier to catch a direct bus in my opinion as my Spanish is pretty basic.

We took the bus to Bilbao then flew to Manchester. The coach fare very cheap and the standard of comfort very good

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hi, You can catch a bus from Leon direct to Santiago airport , you will need to change at Lugo. Flights are available to Gatwick, I flew with EasyJet.
Have a good Camino experience.

Many thanks - I'd never heard of Asturias airport so that's very helpful.

Thank you, Northerngirl. When i tried on the Alsa website I couldn't seem to find a bus from Leon to Bilbao. Flying back from here to Manchester would be the easiest for me. Could you tell me a bit more about this bus route - did you have to change anywhere?
