Trekking pole shipping

Once in Santiago, is there a source for a study mailing tube large enough to fit 2 pair of trekking poles so they can be checked baggage on the flight to Madrid and beyond. I suspect they would not be allowed as carry-on.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Hi, MichiganMan,

Welcome to the forum. Are you walking now?

There is an office of either fedex, UPS or one of those companies on a side street off the road from Praza Galiza to the train station, but I can't for the life of me remember the name. They sell shipping and packing supplies. I bought a lot of bubble wrap there to wrap up some bottles of olive oil and wine to pack for checked baggage. I will search my memory.

But I also think you will find something like this in an art supply store. I have a vague memory that I bought such a tube for my poles years ago in an art store in old Santiago. I am confident you'll find something when you get there.

The post office in Santiago sells long, narrow boxes for about 2€ which I have brought before to post my poles back home to the UK but they are collapsible poles. I padded the inside of the box with some of my clothes for a bit more protection and sealed the outside with extra tape.

Hey! Thanks for the quick comments. I need a box or tube about 10-15cm in diameter and about 75cm long. So far it sounds like I should have no problem finding one. Thanks for the "Welcome" too. We are not on the Camino yet. I start in SJPDP on May 14 and my daughter joins me in Leon. Winnie the Poodle stays home. I'm doing carry-on and checking the poles with a pocket knife, and minor odds and ends packed with them. Thanks again, I'm doing the last minute odds and ends so I can leave next week. In my haste you may note I missed checking my spelling for "sturdy". I am taking a smaller pack than what is in the photo.

Buen Camino to you MichiganMan, all things good are waiting for you.
