UK pilgrims and mobile phones

Hi - this is to UK pilgrims - the thorny question of mobile phones - bearing the costs of taking your own phone, the Spanish sims, and so on.

With the company three - when in certain countries (Spain and France are included) all data, texts, and voice minutes come out of the UK allowance - no roaming charges!
One can get a sim-only monthly running contract - you can cancel at the end of any month if you want - and any 3 shop will set you up and give you the sim for your phone on the spot within minutes, or you can do it online, and you can transfer your current number if you want.

There are a number of sim-only monthly deals - such as, for instance, unlimited data, unlimited texts, and 200 minutes for £20 for the month. If your phone is 4G enabled you get 4G, where available, for no extra charge. Unlimited 'all you can eat data' means you can connect to the internet for as much and for as long as you want when in Spain - and call home to the uk for 200 minutes, and send and receive unlimited texts between where you are and the uk and it all comes out of your uk allowance. You can even use your phone as a wi-fi hot spot if you want.
And the really weird thing is - no catch!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Thanks David, this is exactly what my husband did earlier this year. We were wondering if there was a catch - but there wasn't. It's as good as it sounds.

Thanks for that info David, I've just checked with 3 here and the same deal costs €28.40 which is not so bad I suppose.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Vodafone also has an excellent deal (out of most countries it operates in) you just pay a nominal fee per day that you use your phone (£3 in UK $5 in Aust)and you can access your package in 47 different countries - it's much better as you don't have to advise everyone of a new number and you don't have to worry about running out of credit

Any information about sim cards, using your own phone versus getting Spanish phone...coming from British Columbia, Canada
