Great blog. I look forward to following you as you head north. You've got some stunning cities waiting for you -- Caceres, Salamanca, Zamora, wow. Hope you can enjoy them.

Keep taking pictures, it's nice to see what Sept. looks like.

Will do! I enjoy the journaling experience. One thing about the VdlP in September: it is so arid, even that my beginning was only in Mérida, not Sevilla. I can only imagine how dry and hot the walk was down there. Por exemplo: between Valdesalores and Cáceres, it was 95 deg F with almost no wind. I have had a few more mild days, 85 deg F and wind, etc. Regardless of the temp,I have been consuming a profane amount of water, and MUST carry lip balm. Even with the lip balm, my lips have been comfortable, but chapped.

Evocative writing, Toddmac. I can really relate to your comments on heat. The photos you've posted look just as parched as the ones I took in late Oct/Nov 2009. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the blog Todd. I will be on your trail within the month. It is interesting to see what I will be up against. My childhood was spent in a hot and dry area of Australia, so I am hoping this will stand by me.

I sent the last post before I read your Day 4. I am so sorry about your injury. I pray the rest in Casar de Caceres will enable healing for your knee. Take care, and accept whatever help you are offered. This is just a little setback on the journey.

I'm following your blog. It's engaging and does not sound like Paulo Coelho and his new-age mysticism (that's a good thing).
Hope your leg heals up. I pulled my achilles tendon by slipping in some mud. Took a lot of very strong spanish ibuprofen after that.
