Walking from Ribadeo

It will be busy, i walked this section in late July 2010 and i started to see a lot of new faces each day as i got closer to the 100 km mark. There are two big albergues in Baamonde and Sabrado which can both hold close to a 100 peregrinos. Two new ones have opened in the last year Boimorto(about 50km before Santiago) and a private one in Sabrado. You will have to keep a tranquil state of mind the albergues can be overwhelmed sometimes in August and have heard of fraught situations from a couple of members on here. What you might find in your favour is you will be arriving at key points during the week so you might miss the hordes that join the camino on a weekend and finish on a weekend.

All that aside this section is a delight to walk and when out on the camino will not notice much other pilgrims, that is until you join the Frances.

Hi Doug i often do training walks along the South West Coast Path and that sounds like one for the future, never thought of going up to Colyton, i usually if i am out that way start in Seaton and go to either Branscombe or Sidmouth.

Hope it all goes well for you, i stayed in private accommodation in Ribadeo and Brea(on the Frances) and know that there is other places that you can call upon along the route. If you have time in the main square of Ribadeo is an excellent pulperia/sideria its not on the way but is not far from it and the tourist info.

Buen Camino
