LIVE from the Camino Weather near Foncebadón

We walked from El Ganso to Foncebadón yesterday and badly wanted to continue, but having looked carefully at the new snow and snow depth screens on Windy, the weather app @VNwalking recommended the other day, we knew we weren’t equipped for the 24 cm of snow and wind gusts over 100 kph they are predicting for that area over the next three days. We were afraid we might be able to get to Manjarín and then not be able to walk safely either forward or back. We saw about 40 pilgrims between El Ganso and Foncebadón yesterday - some in shorts. Not sure where they all are now. Someplace warm, I hope. We are in Sarria trying to decide whether to wait out the storm or go south.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Hi, @islandwalker, why didn’t I know you were keeping a journal? Looking forward to reading it all when I have time.

Sending cyber wishes that you and yours stay safe. Buen camino, Laurie
Thanks, Laurie. Our journal isn’t the usual pilgrim journey because of Ned’s recent knee surgery (but he’s now up to 13-15 km per day with us!) and our other special circumstances, but it has been a wonderful family walk of thanksgiving. Our camino has been immeasurably improved by the tips we’ve read on the forum, and I hope to post a few new things we’ve stumbled upon as soon as we are done walking and I have some time. Who knows, given the rain and wind here, that may be tomorrow!

I think walking the Camino in the snow would be fabulous. Are you having issues with finding accommodation this time of year.
