This could almost be posted in the "Other Pilgrim Routes and Trails" section, as so many people make the trek to the Everest base camp and many trekkers have also been caught up in this disaster.

Below are some links where donations can be made to help those currently suffering in this terrible situation.

People in great distress need our prayers & support at this time.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
I would like to add Shelter Box (UK based charity) which sends immediate aid out - their initial team, like others, has already left the UK. The 'kit' contains all the emergency shelter stuff a family needs packed in a large container which can itself then be used for storage or water etc.

Sounds like a great suggestion.

This may not be the appropriate place, but if I may, I would like to add a website to this; www.childhaven.ca. A non-sectarian Canadian charity based in Maxville, Ontario with whom I have served for the past nine years, at our homes in India, Nepal, Tibet and Bangladesh.

I think that anyway we can get aid to people of Nepal and I think it is most helpful to recommend organisations that you feel would do a good job.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Our humble Founders/Directors hold the Order of Canada, United Nations' Humanitarians of the Year and more, for 'doing a good job'.

Two years ago I volunteered in Nepal. I witnessed blatant corruptions from politicians to trekking companies with orphanages attached to them (donations to orphanages find their way into other venues than the orphans. Children are miserably neglected in Nepal.)
My worries are such that I will support organizations that provide in-kind relief rather than monetary.
Unicef, Mercy Ship, and the Red Cross will be my choice.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

Totally understandable that people have their choice of charities, but please check the site and do bit of research before comments like this. They don't deserve it. This is a Canadian organization. They are on Nepalese ground now with aid and comfort for those in need. Enough said.

Sorry Maggie that you did not like my comment. It is just a personal first hand observation; and following Peter's wonderful suggestion "...helpful to recommend organizations you feel will do a good job.' My Nepalese friends are grateful for our/your help.
