Levante in 2019?
Hola !
Has anyone walked from Pamplona to Irun?
I want to walk the del Norte next year, starting from Irun. As some of my friends will walk the "frances" for the very first time, I'm considering to accompany them from SJPdP via Roncesvalles to Pamplona.....I have beautiful memories of this section crossing the Pyrenees from
my camino frances in 2008. From Pamplona I would like to walk north to Irun to get onto the camino
del norte.
Has anyone walked this section and can give me some feedback?
Thank you and Buen Camino

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
You could walk From St Jean to Trinidad de Arre - about 12.5km before Pamplona - and walk back to Bayonne (± 100km) on the Camino Baztan. (It is then 32km to Irun)
Check out the route, download maps, profiles, stage descirptions etc and order a guide here:

Or, you could walk to Burgos and then turn north-east on the Via de Bayona which passes through Irun. (Its 258km to Irun and 290km to Bayonne)

Hey Ben! Did you walk to Irun from Pamplona and if you did what route did you take?

Thanks. MP

Hi MP,

no, I didn't walk this section in 2011, I walked the whole del Norte from Irun to SdC, but started that
year on the Camino Frances. I walked from SJPdP to Pamplona (love this section through the Pyrenees), from there took a bus (2 Hr bus ride) to Irun to commence/continue the Camino del Norte/de la Costa.
If my experience on these routes are any help to you, please let me know.
Regards,
Bem

Thanks. We are planning on mountain biking the camino del Norte as time is in short supply. I love the Spanish perspective that it is muy "complicado!". We are trying to find a route to Irun to avoid the N121 ( I think). There is the camino to Biarritz but it is a little to far up. Whatever advice you can give to a cyclist would be appreciated.
