What a mess in Sevilla

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
"plan to reduce their wages by 5 percent while increasing their working hours"

I'd be striking too!

Point well taken, Frances. No doubt the politicians have a good argument that budget cuts are essential if Spain is ever going to get back to economic stability. But the outrage is fueled by the inability of the governments to distribute this suffering fairly and to always stick it to those at the bottom of the pay scale. In light of the recent scandals about all the higher echelons of the ruling Partido Popular receiving illegal "payments" for years and years, http://www.nbcnews.com/id/50676675/ns/b ... d_economy/
the hypocrisy is pretty stark.

Never a dull moment in Spanish politics, and apparently no end in sight to the human tragedy.

All the more reason for us to go and spend our money in family run places. (don't mean to veer off into a political rant here, so I'm bringing it back to the Camino :) )

Buen camino, Laurie

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Oh poor beautiful Seville, how terrible for everybody.

I think the anger is growing out there, and things could turn out unpleasantly, but I do hope not. Mass unemployment is one of the factors that can turn people towards extremist parties, as history shows us rather uncomfortably clearly.

When I was walking north from Seville, the main emotion I encountered seemed to be resignation rather than anger. However, the latest revelations about corruption and insensitivity near the very top (literally at the top if you count the king going big game hunting) may turn resignation into anger. The indignados and the desahuciados are growing in numbers.

¡qué vergüenza! as they say.
