Hi Barbara,

Portugeuse rail site, also in English

http://www.cp.pt

Also have a look in the resources section here on caminodesantiago.me

Bom Camino!

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
In the ANA website (entity responsible for airports in PT) there is a list of public transports that link to the Porto airport.
http://www.ana.pt/pt-PT/Aeroportos/...tesPublicos/Paginas/Transportes-Publicos.aspx

I've tried to find this in the English version of the website but this page does not appear in EN, only portuguese.
Ovnitur and Barquense seem to be the best options. They offer express buses (I figure about 1h30 travel).
Barquense departures from the airport, while Ovnitur has departure points in Porto and the airport itself.
Barquense is 9€ and seems to have the most comprehensive time table. Ovnitur has transfers which necessitate prior reservation prices vary between 7€ and 12€.

All the best, if you need help where here to help.

Welcome on the forum Barbara.
There are several websites. One of them here below

Rest one question. Why you'll start in Ponte de Lima ?
Are you an experienced walker ?

Bom camnho
Thank everyone for your advice.
Albertino, We plan to walk about 100 miles. From reading our guide book, it looks like Ponte de Lima is about 95+ miles from Santiago. So we thought it would be a reasonable place to begin. What is your advice about this? Is it a good idea? Do you have another suggestion? Last Spring we walked 70 miles from Sarria to Santiago.

No it is a good idea Barbara I hope you are in good shape. The first day is the thoughest day of the entire caminho. You start climbing the Labruja mountain just some kilometers outside Ponte de Lime which is a challenge. It is an off road trail partly. If you start in Barcelos 20 miles before Ponte de Lima you can get used a bit to your backpack, the pace etc. And you can stay at the best places to sleep at the entire Caminho Portugues south of Porto, casa da Fernanda in Vitorino dos Piães. Is my advice.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
