Never walked Camino before
Flying to Toulouse to see my daughter at weekend and wanted to do a few days walking in foothills of Pyrenees . We have no car so would need public transport , wondered about doing a route around Pau on the Camino . We are fairly fit so could manage a reasonable distance but we are not equipped for winter walking in snow .Luchon is the other area nearby . Happy to go with anything that is scenic and accessible for a few days . Is it easy to get accommodation en route ? All suggestions welcome

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

The route leaving Toulouse is quite convoluted, and you will need a guidebook to successfully follow it. If you take the train to Brax Leguevin and join the Via Tolosana there, the path is well marked and easy to follow. You can head for Auch, then Pau. It is a very nice route with good food and accommodations. Bon chemin.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Thank you that’s is very helpful as haven’t booked any accommodation en route .How many days from Auch to Pau and is it well signposted ? Do we need sleeping bags for hostels or is bedding provided . Not much of a map reader but can follow signs . What book would you recommend as most books seem to concentrate on Spanish section . Thanks

Routes are well signposted in France, but they tend to be quite small signs, so keep an eye out. Gites have bedding but i take a silk sleeping bag liner.
The Canal du Midi runs through Toulouse and looks very nice to walk or cycle. Virtually impossible to get lost (you are following a canal). There are books on it.
But it is not a camino route.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
