Great suggestions. Be kind. Be able to listen without judging. Do those random acts of kindness- I gave and experienced both. Learn some Spanish. Leave the bathroom clean. Be patient with yourself as well as others.
I just finished my first Camino, having trekked around the world. I did the Primitivo which is shorter, isolated and some say more difficult. I know Spain generally and well so the key is to be flexible and make it "your" camino, a cliche but true.

I'm on the Primitivo, in Lugo presently. In Tineo- albuerge mater cristi is donativo, self policed, quiet 5euro. The albuergue, not the municipal one and not the private in Berducedo is really nice and the best bar and meal.
