Steep passes on camino frances sjpd to logrono (fear of heights)

I walked the the Camino French Way in 2022 with a very sore knee that has since be replaced. I say to everyone, get a good set of hiking sticks and always use them, even on the flat sections. They a a great "clutch" and have saved me from all sorts of falls.

    Starting in Lisbon

I plan to walk the Camino Portuguese in Sept 2024, from Lisbon to Santiago. I am using John Brierley's guide to plan my pilgrimage. His first seven stages are over 30 KM each. I am over 73 and have completed the French Way and thru hiked the AT. I usually start my walks with a short day, so I...

    Plans Cancelled!!!

I walked the Camino last October, ending in the first week of November. I had a great time, the crowds were not bad, but some places were closed after Nov 1. Go for it, Buen Camino

    Gaiters

I always wear sock liners to prevent blisters from sand in my socks. Just a little sand can cause blisters, especially "sugar sand" like we have in Florida. I also find sock liners wick off moisture on wet hikes. I swear by them! (I also use gaiters, just to keep my socks clean.)

    How cold in October?

I am going to be walking the same time. I planning to take a sleeping bag liner and a hiking quilt. I will have fleece pull over, a nano puff jacket and rain jacket & pant. I tried a rain skirt once but found it too cold. By the way, I will be taking a taxi from Pamplona Airport to St Jean on...
