We chose that that route because we were a bit afraid that walking the coast from Lisbon (which was our other plan) would be 'too much ocean' - and were quite happy with our choice. As we see it, we got both beautiful inland and coastal scenaries

It was a lot of work getting it started, but now it's easy to maintain 
Hi cj2003. Just looking at your accommodation list for Lisbon to Porto. It's just fantastic. Heading over in October 2nd to walk it. Not too sure if I'll walk this internal route or the Camino du mar, via Sintra and Fatima. I can find very little accommodation along this route. -
