We completed the Salvador in mid April 2022 (through snow- but thats another story!).
I wanted to report about luggage transfer experience.
We are old, so had booked mostly hotels, and an apartment rental in Pajares. But we also did the Primitivo after the Salvador, so had a suitcase each...
Well we had always wanted to stay at the Parador at Casios, so that's where we went, but you could always get a taxi to Pola de Allende and go back to Borres the next am.

We are in OPedruozo having done the Primitivo last week. What a shock to join the Frances etc in Melide. On the Primitivo we were leapfrogging about 8 people per day the entire route, and recognizing each other staying and eating at same places.
Joining the CF is like being in the migration of...
We did the Salvador last month- there we just 2 others besides my wife and me for the 6 days. We had unexpected snow from Buiza to Pajares (2 days walking), so it was an adventure. We were knee deep in snow after Poladura, and for awhile it was a bit scary. The two men on the trail from Pamplona...
We just did this last Sunday / Monday from Boston, went to catch the Renfe train at 2:00 p.m. which was a long wait in the station but we really wanted to ride the train. If you are going to want to get there sooner I would recommend get the bus from the airport. Be aware we are walking the...
We are planning to start out from Leon on April 21. From reading, there has been snow in the past, We plan to be flexible depending on the weather.
There were pictures on Facebook Camino del Salvador group of snow near the top last month.
Hello, we are starting the Salvador on April 21 this year.
Can anyone update this thread?
I'd particularly like to know if there is a restaurant for an evening meal in Pajares? Or do we need to carry food to cook?
Or should we plan to stop at the Bar al Mirador in Puerto de Pajares? (Is it...
Thank you for the very helpful responses.
Has anyone out there on the forums had the experience of catching Covid and having to use these services?
How did your hotel or albergue handle this?
Did you have to pause your camino?
I'm sure others would be interested in your stories...
Hi, we are planning on walking beginning mid April, first the San Salvador, then the Primitivo. We are fully immunized and had booster shots, but we are in late 60s age.
I'm wondering what happens if you catch Covid while on pilgrimage? Surely you need to isolate so as not to expose others...
Somos peregrinos viejos, buscando traslado de equipaje en el Salvador. Comenzamos a caminar alrededor del 19 de abril. Por favor, ayude con cualquier contacto o sugerencia.
We are older pilgrims, looking for luggage transfer on the Salvador. We begin walking around April 19. Please help with...
We have walked Pennine Way, Offas Dyke, Pembrokeshire, Ravenber Way in UK and Kumano in Japan. Learned to use poles in New Zealand years ago- would never walk without them now. High quality lightweight adjustable poles are key.
I use Leki Travelers with a velcro wrist "glove" that snaps on...
I want to put in a plug for Google FI enabled phones.
When we walked Kumano Kodo in Japan last spring, my Pixel 3 on the Fi plan popped up with "Welcome to Japan" when we landed, and I didn't have to do a thing to set up for a foreign country (I live in the US). I plan to use this in Spain...
