I will be returning to the Camino next week in Mérida where I left off in December, hopefully all the way to Santiago, what was your choice of accommodation in Alcuésar, if you stayed there?
I'm curious as to how you managed the stream, I did that section in reverse from Zafra in December and it was impossible to cross...I chose to go to the right, crossing downstream ( left coming from Fuente de Cantos) it was quite challenging....wet feet, some fence gate climbing , stinging...
Vigo can be tricky, the first time I came through there I found rooms were outrageously expensive , ended up taking ferry over to Cangas to spend the night...loved it...
on my two other starts from Vigo ended up just getting a hotel to start my caminos...I was bringing first time pilgrims...
100% agree with your assessment ..I got two minor blisters on my first camino...11 Caminos later doing exactly what you say I haven't had a blister since...even if I'm 1/2 a kilometer from a village ...if I have a hot spot I stop immediately and take off my shoes and socks....wait a bit and put...
Wow, that’s quite a first day to start a Camino, well done! Ponte was a mid way point for me, as I prefer staying in between stages, but I loved the walk in and the vibe of the town, did you enjoy it?

Pretty much everything was still open last week ....I think a lot close at the end of October...bit also there are less Pilgrims...never had any issue finding a place to sleep or take a break...although there are some long stretches without services....
I couldn't agree more....Finished the central from Oporto a couple of weeks ago...the first few days along the roads were so dangerous....the people in this area do not even think about pulling over to give you room, and quite often there is 0 shoulder and a wall ....take any variants that get...
I’m currently on the primitivo, almost done, in Melide, I agree with everything the post above, for me a headlamp was good to have , sunrise is around 8:30 and some days you’ll want to start early
I have to say there were more pilgrims than I expected, but not so many that there was a problem...
I've done Vigo to Santiago 3 times, Vigo to Redondela is half city and half wooded path...Redondela to Pontevedra is much more interesting, a few climbs early, lots of woods after the first 3rd of the day and if you take the Complimentario route towards the end you will be rewarded with a lovely...
