    Larrasoana Albergues

I had a wonderful time there...probably due to friends I met. I will say, it set my expectations for the rest of the time on the camino, which meant that I was always pleasantly surprised when I found my next destination - not a bad feeling to have.

    walking the camino

I walked alone - and by alone I mean I started my journey alone and met lots of amazing people. I never felt unsafe (I'm 30).

    What shampoo/soap to bring

It might sound extreme, but I chopped my long hair off to a short pixie and just carried one bottle of camp soap. It washed me, my clothes, and my hair. Technically one can also use it as toothpaste...but I didn't quite go there. Some of those showers weren't worth the time of rinsing out both...

    Meaning of Camino to you

My camino meant a time for reflection on me and what I want out of life. That seems pretty selfish, but I don't spend much time on that usually. But, since my camino, I've toned down my work stress and my partner and I have filed for divorce...of course that's hard and sad, but it's best for...

The best way to prepare to walk the Camino ...

I am a half-marathoner and was keeping a ten mile long run up until I left for my first camino...it did not save me. Although I had no hip or back pain or even feet pain (besides blisters of course), I made a huge mistake in Paris before my camino began. My mother wanted to see Europe as well...

    26 Stage walk realistic?

Just keep in mind that plans change. I entered my camino thinking I would really bust it out. I'm 30, run multiple half-marathons each year with a maintenance run of 10 miles each week. I spend my weekends hiking the Rockies. I planned to conquer the camino. BUT I discovered that a leisurely...

    Viana

This was one of my favorite places to stay. The hospitalero was so funny and nice. He closed up the alburgue when we asked for lunch suggestions so he could walk us to his favorite spot. As an added bonus, he drank wine as described by Hemmingway in The Sun Also Rises...straight from the wine skin.

List your pilgrim blog URL Here - we want to read your story

Here's mine! http://meganmarathoner.wordpress.com/ It's not dedicated to the camino in my non-camino time...but it has my pictures and write-ups.

Section walking the camino - opinions

That' a tough call. I walked form SJPP to Finisterre and had some hiccups that maybe wouldn't have been so bad in sections (blisters the size of small rodents, really bad stomach flu), but I loved getting into the zone of the whole thing. I didn't have my return ticket booked, so I enjoyed...

    First Time Camino Walker.

My biggest mistake was not doing long hikes in my boots multiple days in a row - compounded by my mistake to not bring any antiseptic (thank goodness the camino provides). My heels were nasty - like infected, destroyed nasty... still were eaten by my boots in Finisterre six weeks later so no...

    Last minute worries

You can do it! You have all day, so take a breath whenever needed. I became pretty nervous/worried as I left town and started the ascent IMMEDIATELY - but a half hour in and I knew it would be hard but I could do it. And when you start wishing you were headed downhill, just remind yourself...

    Paris to SJPDP

When I was there in May, the train from Bayonne to SJPP was out of commission. I didn't know that since I had bought my tickets in french, which I don't speak - long story but my tickets were cheaper. Anyway, there's a bus running between the two, and I just showed my printout from my tickets...

    Silly Question! Filling out passport

I don't know because mine came to me filled out by American Pilgrims on the Camino, but I do just want to note that I didn't put my actual passport number on my pilgrim passport because I just don't like it being in many places. Anyway, I just didn't put that information in. But, I did then have...

    Backpack, vitamins, and gastronomy questions!

I didn't take any supplements except when I got sick - I'm not sure if it was food poisoning or the flu, but it was really bad. Unfortunately, I got sick on a Sunday, which meant no pharmacy (I was in a pretty rural area). Luckily a friend of mine gets stomach upset every time he walks the...
