I had a similar situation in November of 2022 when the train from Bayonne to SJPdP was cancelled. I could find no staff member to assist, and I don't speak enough French. I suggest being prepared to use a translation app, and be prepared to ask strangers to help as you look around outside the...
Having arrived in Santiago in December of 2023, I didn't have to deal with crowds. Arriving in July 2024 was a different story. At first I was turned away from the Cathederal because I had a backpack. When I returned later that day without it, I was again turned away because the Mass had...
The process seems to be very efficient. In late December of 2023, of course with few pilgrims, there was no wait.
Arriving in Santiago in July, a busy time on the Camino, still no wait.
There was no pre-registration in either case.

I noticed that a lot of people who live...
I made this trip in November of 2022. I had a ticket from Gare Montparnasse to St jean Pied de Port, with a change at Bayonne. Unfortunately, the onward train was cancelled (due to a strike, I was told), and I had to locate the bus to St Jean Pied de Port. I was informed that it was not...
Great Photos and a wonderful story! Thanks for the inspiration. St Michael is the patron saint of paratroopers, so a pilgrimage to Mont St Michel is on the list.

As I recall, Sol is a subway station in downtown Madrid. Chamartin is a train station with a completely different set of tracks on the outskirts of Madrid. In fact, as I recall, one arrives at the Chamartin stop on the subway and has to take an escalator to the ground level and then walk...
I can speak from recent experience. Last month I used NCS (Nunca Caminareis Solos), to transport my bag from Palas de Rei to Santiago. The price was reasonable and the bag was delivered without problem. I would certainly use this company again.
