Is this a bad idea? (footwear)

I switched from my first-time Salomons to new ones three years later for walking Primitivo (Oviedo-Santiago) and regretted. Got perhaps a bit more stabile footage but a lot blisters too. It is ridiculous that new Salomon models are made worse than old ones. Should be other way around, shoudn't it?

Help! Trying to lighten my load for a trip in April/May

No gators, take walking shoes (Salomons are the best) instead of hiking boots. And take some polythene (or similar) poncho with you - in case of heavy rain. As it was in May 2013. I used plastic bags as gloves because my hands on walking sticks were freezing.

Anyone have time to look at my stuff?

Compeed plasters for feet blisters. Different sizes. Highly recommended. Saved my Camino.

    Gijon to Santiago on Norte

Spursfan, could you share your daily stages you made from Gijon to Santiago please? With albergues you stayed in if possible.

Emergency Sleeping Bag & Liner combo? Lightweight options

Emergency blanket for sure is not breathable, you will find yourself drenched in your own sweat in the morning. I use silk liner while sleeping under albergue blanket.

You did which one, Primitivo or Norte?

    Gijon to Santiago on Norte

OK, thanks so far. Seems that I've been overly optimistic planning to reach Santiago in 10 days.. Must add a couple of days. Perhaps somebody knows if there are albergues between official stages? I mean if I pass the end of the stage are there albergues some 10-15 kms further?

    Gijon to Santiago on Norte

Hi, everyone, making up my mind about Norte on May 2016. Found a lot of information with different numbers. How far is it? Around 360 kms? Is it possible to walk in less than two weeks? I've done Primitivo from Oviedo to Santiago in 8 days but that was 3 years ago... Now I'm 57.. Any...

The Primitivo route can't be as confusing as it appears, rig

Gronze maps is all you need. I never lost directions even without maps but used them for distance planning.

    Primitivo in 8 days

It is known that Apostle St.James was one of the first people who received blessing of the Holy Spirit. It was after the 3rd day on Camino when we realised that it is real to attend the Whit Sunday's Holy Mass directly in the Cathedral where the Tomb of St.James is located. It was so attractive...

    Primitivo in 8 days

Hi, just returned from Primitivo. I'd like to encourage those who have read in the Forum that Primitivo is doable in not less than 11 days. I and my colleague Latvian priest Andris started on the 12th of May from Oviedo and did it in 8 days! We started walking early (around 7 a.m.) every day...
