These sad facts are really isolated. Im still with 300km left and didnt have a problem. However i dont buy into the mistaken identity type of deal. Let's be serious, when it happens it is 85% intentional.
You are way ahead of yourselves guys. His comment is right on. Return from dreamland boys n girls. I'm in san martin del camino 25km out of leon. The lanscape is sometimes beautiful, but km for km is mostly uninspiring...unless you find inspiring what i find repetitively mediocre at best.
There...
To san juan is a bit less abt 23/24. I made it to ages and surrendered to a few days of resting. Also i insisted on walking way past my blisters erupted in abt 9 spots. Locals say heatwave is unprecedented. I also surrendered boots and am currently into seeking teva terra sandals. Good luck...
I appreciate that guys. Sounds manzanedo will do. Decathlon has its own brands mostly and they really dont compare to Teva. Then again, it would be better than what i got now.
Strange thing is i was fine and dandy the first 5 stages; had 0 blisters. Then i just couldnt fit my feet in the boots...
Had to stop in burgos due to serious blisters developed in the last 3 stages and worsened dramatically after belorado-ages stage. Record high temps. and all around goretex boots enlarged and baked my feet beyond imagination. Im looking for a specialized store in burgos that carries TEVA TERRA FI...
This has active charcoal in an amount whose protection is purely anecdotal, may slightly improve taste. But that's it, not worth the stretch. Lifestraw GO or sawyer are certified to stop gyardia, escherichia-coli, colera, tifus, salmonella, shygella....etc...etc...
if i may, i would like to suggest the use of a gps tracker to be hidden in the pack. It can make a lot of difference. It has a proximity alert so if they move the pack beyond a certain perimeter it will ring your phone and start mapping its location.....
A bit off the track but i use one of those fishing vests made of perforated mesh and therefore cool enough. it has something like 27 pockets, most are hidden on the inside....just a thought.
Was referring to a general situation, not specifically to Ponferrada. It is a fact though, that thefts are more common in municipal albergues, same as bedbugs. Obviously there's always the exception that confirms the rule. Then again, you are right, valuables should not be left unattended.
Rings no bells but makes lotsa sense. Mostly such things do happen in municipal albergues, in smaller, private (more expensive) albergues you stand at least a sporting chance :)
