    Petty theft

These sad facts are really isolated. Im still with 300km left and didnt have a problem. However i dont buy into the mistaken identity type of deal. Let's be serious, when it happens it is 85% intentional.

Don't walk the Camino, unless it's your Way

You are way ahead of yourselves guys. His comment is right on. Return from dreamland boys n girls. I'm in san martin del camino 25km out of leon. The lanscape is sometimes beautiful, but km for km is mostly uninspiring...unless you find inspiring what i find repetitively mediocre at best. There...

LIVE from the Camino Sadness, Soreness and Joy on the Frances

To san juan is a bit less abt 23/24. I made it to ages and surrendered to a few days of resting. Also i insisted on walking way past my blisters erupted in abt 9 spots. Locals say heatwave is unprecedented. I also surrendered boots and am currently into seeking teva terra sandals. Good luck...

    Teva women's sandals

Hi! Are you implying that terra fi 4 are more suitable for the camino than the terra fi lite? Looking for advice.

HELP - sport store in burgos

I appreciate that guys. Sounds manzanedo will do. Decathlon has its own brands mostly and they really dont compare to Teva. Then again, it would be better than what i got now. Strange thing is i was fine and dandy the first 5 stages; had 0 blisters. Then i just couldnt fit my feet in the boots...

HELP - sport store in burgos

Had to stop in burgos due to serious blisters developed in the last 3 stages and worsened dramatically after belorado-ages stage. Record high temps. and all around goretex boots enlarged and baked my feet beyond imagination. Im looking for a specialized store in burgos that carries TEVA TERRA FI...

    Dysentery from fountains?

This has active charcoal in an amount whose protection is purely anecdotal, may slightly improve taste. But that's it, not worth the stretch. Lifestraw GO or sawyer are certified to stop gyardia, escherichia-coli, colera, tifus, salmonella, shygella....etc...etc...

    where you stash your money

if i may, i would like to suggest the use of a gps tracker to be hidden in the pack. It can make a lot of difference. It has a proximity alert so if they move the pack beyond a certain perimeter it will ring your phone and start mapping its location.....

    where you stash your money

A bit off the track but i use one of those fishing vests made of perforated mesh and therefore cool enough. it has something like 27 pockets, most are hidden on the inside....just a thought.

Arrest on suspicion of theft at Ponferrada

Was referring to a general situation, not specifically to Ponferrada. It is a fact though, that thefts are more common in municipal albergues, same as bedbugs. Obviously there's always the exception that confirms the rule. Then again, you are right, valuables should not be left unattended.

Arrest on suspicion of theft at Ponferrada

Rings no bells but makes lotsa sense. Mostly such things do happen in municipal albergues, in smaller, private (more expensive) albergues you stand at least a sporting chance :)

    2016 August Peregrinos Departures

Starting from Roncesvalles between 27 and 29 of August. All the way to Finisterre.

    My First Camino....

I would consider very well the fact of wanting to use a single wooden walking stick for over 800km, possibly holding it 95% of the time with your right hand. it may contribute to form an uncorrect posture in your body which could give you problems in the months following the Way. I do understand...

    Dysentery from fountains?

water purification tablets are not good for you in the long run (a month). U can either get a sawyer mini filter and refill your bottles or bladder with it (bottles screw right into it). The other option is to get a Lifestraw Go. It uses a nalgene type of canteen with a structural matrix filter...

    Dysentery from fountains?

Was probably me, in an earlier post. i have this news from a fellow italian, it seems to be accurate. If i can get a hold of him i'll let you know the location of the suspicious area. Several people got sick, and their camino ended there. When they were at the hospital the doctors who made the...

24 Lt. pack for the camino frances

Hi there, I have some seriously sensitive guts as well :-) due to past issues with oysters in Brazil back in 2003. Problems lasted years. Ok, here's what i found. Any other element outside of water in a bladder is crusing for a bruising, especially sugar based compounds as they tend to form...
