Advice: Biking vs. Walking?
I biked the northern route and it is less busy than the Frances route, so there is less people to pass. I got off the bike a good few times and walked with people. Where to start Norte route - Irun, Bilboa or Santander?
there ia na alberque in irun , cant think there would be a problem sleeping out in spain along the norhtern route .Ask locals about fish..very cheap to eat- michael flanagan

The camino is not always the answer , I met people on it who thought the camino would answer all their problems but I dont think it did. Maybe the grief you are feeling needs to be addressed and maybe there are other things that are manifesting themselves as you are planning. Maybe he is fearful...- michael flanagan
