I did the Camino starting in SJPDP in May 2013. A couple of weeks later I met a couple from Port Macquarie, Australia and walked the rest of the way to Santiago. Absolutely delightful couple. I have their email if you wish to contact them! Semper fi. Paul
Great trip; delighted I did it. Met many very special friends and I miss them all! Had my birthday on the trail. Friends gave me balloons and when we stopped for coffee everybody in the shop sang "Happy Birthday!" Wonderful memories. Made Santiago the next day and cried in the church. Pablo
Just finished Camino. When in Pamplona, don't bother with the cafe Iruna where Hemmingway ate. It is something to look at, and have a cerveza, but the food is not as good as the pilgrim meals in the bush.
If carrying a big pack, utilize Jacotrans (7$) to transport to next planned stop. Use a...
Bozzie, Farmer John, Al and JGarrett: Happy Trails. I'm off in about 6 hours for the big iron bird to fly to Paris to start this adventure. You all have been great on the forum. Hope to actually meet you on the trail. Semper fi. Pablo
This is starting to get exciting. I sure hope to say Howdy to you folks along the way.
I'll be wearing a yellow ball cap in good weather and a USMC camo soft cover in bad.
I will celebrate my 76th on the trail in June.
Tapas and cerveza on me!

Erica: I'm departing SJPdP on May 5, but I think you will pass me enroute as I am slow. I'll probably be by the side of the trail offering to sing for beer or something. Have a wonderful adventure!

Anybody have advice about phones? I'm thinking just turn off data and use WiFi along the route.
ATT has a Text package that is fairly reasonable. I'm going to get that.
Are hotspots fairly common? Thanks. Pablo
dogtorbill: Farmer John and I are Marines and look forward to a bit of rain and mud. Come join us in the fun. No shortcuts. Lot of folks have it worse than that in hostile places. Get your game face on and take a lot of pictures along the way! Semper fi. Pablo
Al and FJ: Hope we meet on the trail. I'll probably be sitting by the side of the road gasping for air! Another question is, what happens after we finish? Everybody going home?
Farmer John: I plan to depart SJPdP on 5 May, RON Orisson, and start walking on 6 May. I think you will pass me. Look for an old guy with short hair and a blue pack. Should stand out, right?
I'm planning to do this slowly. Actually, I don't think I CAN do it any quicker! Attitude is good. Will...
Suzanne: May I suggest any name brand with Cross Trainer type shoes. Typically Cross Trainers are a bit more sturdy and can hold up to light weight training as well as aerobics and running. Still, be certain to wear them a bit before the hike, and when you go to the store, be sure to wear hiking...
