    Aaaaargh!

Aside from the Litoral segment out of porto to Vila do Conde, which is universally liked by all pilgrims (including me), which of the other Litoral sections are highly desirable to take vs the official coastal route? I have seen recommendations on multiple threads of a green arrow route between...

    Caparra walking and accommodation options

I biked the via verde in 2019 southbound and walked the normal route northbound in 2020 and can say that the via verde is quite spectacular! However, in 2019 it was closed south of Hervas so I had to returned to the highway there.

    Irun - April 1st, 2023

I started in Irun on Feb 23rd a few years ago and had nothing but warmth and sunshine for the first week. So anything is possible. Buen camino!

Cafe con Leche / Coffee on the Camino: Enquiring Coffee Lovers want to know!!

something about cafe con leche.... while on the camino, it is the most wonderful thing. while traveling in general, it is quite underwhelming compared to any coffee in Italy or France. there is one cafe on the via de la plata in el cubo de tierra del vino between Zamora and Salamanca that had...

    Aragones in early April

Thank you for your responses. Looks like I'll have to stay flexible and check conditions closer to when I arrive in Spain as each year seems to be quite different. I'm guessing that later in April or early May conditions will only be better, aside from any current storms. Perhaps I should...

    Napoleon route in early April

Thank you, your responses are helpful. Sounds like it'll be a game-time decision. Instead of coming to SJPdP from Paris, it may be prudent to fly into Madrid, assess conditions on arrival (hopefully there will be some forum posts here from pilgrims that are already in SJPdP and then decide to...

    Aragones in early April

I hope to return to the camino in early April after 3 year break due to the pandemic. The Aragones has been on my short list of routes to walk for several years. I hope to walk the first stages of the Frances from SJPdP to Pamplona as soon as the Napoleon route opens (around April 1st) and...

    Napoleon route in early April

For my first camino in 2017, I started in early March and walked via Valcarlos to Roncesvalles on the first day since the Napoleon route was still closed. Since then, I’ve been wanting to return to walk that iconic first stage. I may return to the camino in early April and wish to walk the...

LIVE from the Camino Walking the Via de la Plata with New Friends

I would say it's a blessing that the hostal in torremejia did not have a bed for you. That place (and town in general) is one of the worst places in all my days on the camino. Congrats for walking a marathon all the way to Merida! The next albergue in El Carrascalejo is great with a kind...

Cycling the Via de Plata This Summer

also worth checking out https://www.larutaenbici.com/en which has both mountain bike and road bike routes for the via de la plata. the site is not strictly for the camino as it continues to gijon. here are two write-ups of both routes...

Cycling the Via de Plata This Summer

i cycled sevilla-zamora last fall and mostly stuck to the N630. very little traffic, wide shoulders, and went through most of the camino towns on the walker's path. easy and straightforward, though sometimes a bit monotonous. earlier this year before the shutdown, i walked sevilla-salamanca on...

A good time to write (English) reviews of albergues to Gronze?

As we anxiously stay at home reminiscing past caminos and daydreaming about future caminos when it's safe once again to do so, here's a thought: Many of us use gronze to find the best albergues (and avoid the appallingly bad ones). While most of the reviews are in Spanish (& not difficult to...
