I have walked this route three times ( Seville to Santiago) and agree with you that the most memorable and enjoyable for me was the walk between A Guidina and Laza. Your message and outlook struck a chord with me....very similar to mine. I was 74 when I walked the VLDP again for the third time in 2022. Please don't treat donativos as free
It might be a good rule to donate the same amount you would expect to pay at an alberque that charges for accommodation and use of facilities such as a kitchen. Flight booked.
HI, I did the same walk starting at the same date in 2018, be prepared for some very hot weather the first week or so.....it was brutal from Seville to Guillena the first day. This time I will not wait for the free breakfast at the hotel but start much earlier in the morning!- Plataman

How long did VDLP Seville to Santiago take you
Take your time, plan some rest days. I have done the VLDP twice, and both times took close to 50 days....extra days in Caceres, Merida, Zafra, Salamanca, Ourense......all time well spent. Its not a race, its an experience...enjoy every moment of it....who knows when you will be back?- Plataman

How is Camino Sanabres ?
Having done the Sanabres route twice, in 2016 and 2018, and taking the Laza route and stopping in Lalin, I agree with Juans comments..an accurate account of that walk....arduous in parts but worth it.- Plataman

Flying from Vancouver - better to fly Paris to Biarritz or take the train?
HI, I live in BC and have done the Frances twice. Both times I took KLM Vancouver to Amsterdam, and from there flew to Bayonne. Overnighted in Bayonne for two nights to get over the jet lag, then train ( or bus) up to SJDPP. Bayonne is an interesting little city, nice place to get...- Plataman
