Just a footnote to Gerard's declarations re: civic responsibility for pilgrims? Wrong. Nobody owes a pilgrim anything. The pilgrim takes on his role voluntarily. He sets aside his privilege and becomes, effectively, homeless for a while...

The walk from Molinaseca to Ponferrsda is only 7.5 Km. It can be done is 2 hours along the road and is an easy walk. The buses from Ponfe run several time each day and are comfortable.
