I'm loving the 'sun hoodie' I bought for this purpose, lightweight (292 grams), with thumb holes to cover hands and hood to cover head, ears back of neck - all UPF50+. There's several big brands, I went cheap & got Uniqlo (AUD$50). I wear it for all my training walks & love it! eg...- TassietoVP

Preparing from Tasmania (island state of Australia) to walk about a month of the VP at my slow pace (maybe average 15km/day) with just the essentials on my back (so currently obsessed with the weight of those essentials..!). Thank you BlackRocker57! Would this answer be different if I was to leave le Puy mid-May? With the Aubrac region's altitude I'm not sure a silk sleeping sheet would suffice...? (I really appreciate input from your extensive experience of this route!)- TassietoVP
