LIVE from the Camino Tonjesol's camino is finally here!

Back home again... Well, that's it! Arrived in Santiago on Friday the 18th and was surprised at the activities going on: Concerts, dancing, music etc etc. And I just wasn't prepared for the touristy feel of the city! :o Got ourselves lodged into a nice hotel - boy did we deserve that - and...

LIVE from the Camino Tonjesol's camino is finally here!

I'm back again, this time I'm writing to you from Ponferrada. The Templar Knights' Castillo is beautiful, but the city in itself isn't my favourite. We decided to reach Santiago this year (with the vacation days we are given), and thus have to take a bus/train for a few days' legs. I'm having...

LIVE from the Camino Tonjesol's camino is finally here!

In boadilla - still going strong! Hi guys, I've made it to a fantastic private Albergue in Boadilla, after doing 30 Km yesterday (pretty good for me...) and 19 today. Had some strength left, but couldn't resist an anbergue with a pool, nice people and a pack of dogs(!) - you gotta love it! :)...

LIVE from the Camino Tonjesol's camino is finally here!

Backpack ready (and amazingly light right now!), my plane leaves from up here on the north pole early tomorrow morning. I'll be in Madrid around 6 or 7 PM, and hope to catch a bus or train to Burgos the same evening, so that I can start my walk Thursday morning. I feel so excited! I hope the...

I will be thinking of Pilgrims leaving SJPDP on May 19

I do love your postings, Bob, they are a thrill to read! :) I hope you return to the Way at some point, it seems to have made quite an impression on you. It has meant a lot to me, that's for sure. I can't wait to get out on the Meseta in July... 8)

I will be thinking of Pilgrims leaving SJPDP on May 19

Check it out Bob, I have almost the exact same picture as you (bottom left in your collage), only mine is taken in mid July of 2007! The colours have certainly changed... Neat! :D

    light sleeper

What a lovely thought! It feels nice and purposeful to know that one has a motivation for doing the Camino. And better still, to discover multiple motivations during (and even after!) walking. For me, the benefits just kept on showing themselves while walking last year, and I experienced an...

    light sleeper

I feel you, Auburnfive, getting enough sleep is the difference between a good and horrible experience when you're pushing your physique throughout the day. I am also an annoyingly light sleeper, and I got max 2-3 hours of sleep in the albergues. I tried and tried, because I really loved the...

Smartypants! Well, what is a good Norwegian without her fisherman's chair/backpack? Saludos, Tonje - still waiting for the trout to bite

This is me in July last year, I think the picture is taken just before the ascent to Alto de Perdon, but I might be wrong. I was so dead tired a few hours after this, I had no idea I would struggle so much physically with the Camino. I knew it would be hard (and that hard isn't neccessarily...

    Boots or good jogging shoes?

Special made pilgrim socks, now there's a good idea! "Socks for pilgrims, by pilgrims" :P Blue and yellow with an arrow pointing forwards, in case you forget which way to walk...

    Busy Camino

If it's busy NOW... Bless, I wonder what July is going to be like if it's already busy-busy on the Frances now... I'm off from Burgos on the 3rd of July, wonder if I should bring a tent just in case? Is it worth the weight? Please update, sweet pilgrims, so we'll know what to expect...

    Boots or good jogging shoes?

I see that many people support boots as the optimal foot wear even in summer. I walked from Pamplona to Burgos in 2007 in my Asics Kayano jogging shoes, and that worked beautifully for me, except some blisters under(!) my toes - but I believe that to be due to poor socks. I have problems with my...

    Newbie alert! + Question

Hello my fellow pilgrims! This will be my very first post on this forum! After having just visited it for months, now I am finally an official member! :D Great site, by the way, Ivar! My 2007 walk took me from Pamplona to Burgos, and this year I'm going back to Burgos to (hopefully)...
