    The New Compostela Queuing System

Just went Sept 2019 and no line to get into Cathedral. I stumbled on it by accident, it is on the side of the church (if facing the cathedral, the right side). I had gone to Plaza Quintana behind the cathedral for a massage and saw a security guard checking people's bags. It's free to enter and...

A plea to all women on the Camino Frances: ‘Take your toilet tissues with you’!

I agree, I saw much more toilet paper in the last 100km. Unless you have a weak bladder, there is almost no need to go in the bushes. There are cafes etc every 3km. I realized you don't need to carry so much water on you. Maybe 16oz or less except for a few longer stretches. Then you stop in a...

    The New Compostela Queuing System

I am very glad I spent 2 nights in SDC as it was my favorite city on the CF. Lodging was higher though but I made last minute rsvp and it was very close to the cathedral so it was over 100€/night. Well worth it though. After 8pm the streets really came alive

If you have the QR reader you can go have breakfast or whatever, I went somewhere that had wi-fi so I could see what number was being called. It...

    Hair dressers

I did not carry conditioner with me and used either the lodging's soap or shampoo. My hair got pretty matted too and I noticed a lot of people looked the same. I waited until I got to SDC and found a salon. They spoke no English but I was able to convey I wanted shampoo and style. They then...

Private accommodation - Hike without a sleeping bag?

I stayed in private rooms which always had blankets so I did not need any sleeping bag or towel. If you stay in albergues it is advisable and sometimes even if they have sheet or blankets, it may not be clean. Imo it's so worth the extra money to get a private room. The Camino and Spain is one...

    Compostela and Sello

Just finished it starting from Leon. One albergue told me you should always try to get a stamp from the church 1st when entering a town. But other people said it doesn't matter. I tried to get at least 2/day. When you get to Sarria it's required 2/day. I don't think they scrutinize it very...
