When the albergues were closed in Zaraquigui just on the other side of the Alto del Perdon, I remember a lot of people stopping in Uterga.

I've stayed twice at Albergue Camino del Perdon and highly recommend it.

I stayed at Casa Baztan last year and had a good experience. I had the pilgrim’s dinner there and had lunch across the street at Camino del Perdon and both were good.

After Uterga, you might want to consider going via Eunate.
Well worth seeing.......

I stopped there once and stayed at the albergue on the left hand side as you're heading to Puente de la Reina. It was nice and very clean. Good food.

Throwing my support behind Albergue Camino del Perdon, I've stayed there twice before.

Depending on the time of year you go, the dormitory can be hot (I was there both times in July) so that point may not be appropriate for you.

The pilgrim menu I remember is very good, proper home cooked food.

The town itself is quiet, there isn't a lot to explore but there is a public pool to soak your feet in the centre, which is very welcome by the time you get there.

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
My notes tell me that I had lunch there about 16 years ago; I recall very little but it was the usual Navarrese village with not much to do aside from eat, sleep, and hang out with other pilgrims, which to me is an agreeable way to spend time. I daresay that, were I a local adolescent, it would be ennervating, but I'm not an adolescent any more!
