Just looking at my itinerary - Cluny to Le Puys = 322km Le Puy to SJPP = 751 So close to 1100...by my math And if i add up my walking route day by day it's about 1163...so who knows? but pretty certain it's not 900 unless you're straight lining it in a car Of course on all my walks it was...

Hi IT56ny I feel you, but i think Cluny to Le Puys will be enough on this trip, 2 months and some where around 1100-1200 km. BUT we are thinking of Norte - heard all sorts of mixed reviews - hilly but lots and lots of pavement. Portugues Camino had lots but the ocean made up for it - what are...

Just wanted to share the excitement. T-8 weeks until we arrive in Cluny - going to be a long trip getting there (Toronto-Montreal-Paris, Lyons then another train and a cab) to town, then a rest day, then it begins. Although in our 60's my wife thought Le Puys wasn't long enough (she wants to...

Starting slowly on the Le Puy route

Congrats Kathy, no advice on the shorter route and walking long days as I'm starting north of Le Puys, hoping after 350km we will be warmed up and ready to go. We are leaving mid April Hope I can do it when I'm 78 - damn that's impressive!

Which is the best rain JACKET to buy?

I'm pretty experienced long distance walker, several Caminos and more - my reco by far is Arc'teryx. They make several levels but the quality is second to none - oh and "Made in Canada!"

    A documentary

Thx Andy - i will try and find it. I'm doing another Camino in April - walking from Cluny France to Le Puys to SJPP - 1100-1200km (no one ever knows the real distance). After that, thinking the Norte before i get too old and stiff !

    Cluny vs. Geneva

Thx Mournes! Alas we have booked Cluny...Camino Ways our company suggested it was a little prettier, more quaint...so we will see. Thx very much for the tick heads up - we will be careful...they are ubiquitous so we will do our best. I think we are doing 16 days, we too are in our 60's and i...

    Cluny vs. Geneva

Thx so much Mournes - that seems like a fast walk 12 days? Are you young or just very fit!? Any preference for either route? Can you share any pros or cons or differences - elevation, time to walk it, beauty etc. Anything to help guide the decision would be appreciated...we plan to have the...

    Cluny vs. Geneva

Thx - meeting few Pilgrims is fine, i will see a few from Le Puys to SJPP, more interested in the route itself than how many are walking. Appreciate the heads up though

    Cluny vs. Geneva

Hi All Trying to decide whether to do Cluny or Geneva to Le Puys. From there we will head to SJPP We are early 60's, seasoned walkers I have heard Geneva is "harder" and that Cluny is not only easier but has beautiful quaint villages and is basically prettier...on paper they look similar -...
