...this means your foot can slide around.
One thing I found v useful is to ensure that my heel is in the very back of the boot/shoe before lacing. Best if possible to have the back (rather than the bottom) of the heel against the ground or a step when doing this.
Then lace the boot/shoe...
Hi all
A few weeks ago I bought a pair of Salomon X Ultra Gore-Tex Trail shoes with a quick lace system.
However, after a short time of wearing them (15 minutes) of light walking the laces on both shoes tend to loosen.
I have checked each shoe thoroughly to see if there are any defects, or if...
...most important piece of equipment a pilgrim takes, I would submit a video demonstrating the use of the perhaps not-so-well known 'Heel lock' lacing technique.
It utilises the two top sets of eyelets.
As the name suggests its purpose is to lock the heel into the back of the shoe thereby...

We were just coming up to one of the bridges across the Embalse de Alcantara (reservoir) when the loop from one of my boot laces got caught in the other boot and I went flying over into the road. Two scratched knees, one broken finger...
My apologies if this is teaching your grandmother to suck eggs.
Your shoes or boots were comfortable for the first hour or so, but then they began to pinch across the toes. What do you do? Relace your shoes/boots missing out the lowest two eyelets (one on each side). This means there is no...
Dear fellow pilgrims, having walked the Camino Frances (2016), Via Podiensis (2018) and the Via Francigena (from GSBP to Rome in 2019), my wife and I will be walking from Irun to Gijon (setting off on 26 April 2023) and then on to SdC via the Primitivo (arriving, hopefully, on 6 June 2023). In...
