Any Advice about how to strengthen my knees for down hills.

My hiker friend who has very bad knees (doctor told her she will end up in a wheelchair soon) went to a gym with a personal trainer who guided her into specific exercises. He told her to get an mri first to see what the problem was exactly and then he knew how to help her. One of the exercises...

Backpack is 2 kg too heavy TwT

That is a rough guide line but in my opinion doesn’t work for us 50kg people.. my pack will be around 8-9 kg with water and a snack. It depends on you. This might be too heavy for some, I am fine carrying this. Just the first few days are hard on the shoulders and hips.

Small juicer, vegetarians and heating element?

Spain has lot of veggies available usually, but on the camino I also find it hard to eat enough veggies. I can only eat so many iceberg tuna salads before they drive me nuts. They do often offer vegetable side dishes, usually very basic. Spanish also eat lots of legumes. I myself take AG1 to...

    What about “té con leche”?😀

Spain has tea. You can rest assured that every café and restaurant will have atleast black tea, chamomile, mint tea, mostly green tea. Other tea’s and infusion are less common. If you want black tea with milk ask for “te negro con leche a parte” (black tea with milk on the side)

    My upcoming planned Camino Portuguese

Hi fellow pilgrims! I have walked 1450km over several years on the Camino Frances alone, without planning much. This year is going to be very different! I have convinced my mom to come with me. I am so excited to show her what the camino is all about. But to be able to convince her I had to...

Need help deciding to bring or not to bring

I wouldn’t take your Kindle. I took mine on my first camino better never read. I was either doing my “camino chores”, socializing, eating. And if I really wanted to enjoy a story I would listen to an audiobook, which I would fall asleep to. For this ofcourse you need earphones. Earphones are...

Which route to take on Portuguese camino?

I have done the Frances a couple times and loved it. Now I will be taking my mother along for her first time. I would love your opinions on which route is best to take. We want to start in Porto. I am quite confused and overwhelmed by all the different routes to take! The only thing I really...

Packing List : Food - What food/nutritional items are in your bag, when you leave home ?

I see you are more worried about the cost of normal food.. There is enough food available everywhere you go except maybe in the mornings, easily fixed by buying something the evening before. As for supplements, I take a lot from home. I take 2 weeks worth of supplements. If I walk for longer, I...

October CF bottoms for women - suggestions appreciated!

Fjalraven make excellent hiking tights/leggings with reinforced bottoms and knees. They make thicker ones for the cooler months. Back in 2015 I walked the CF mid Sept till beginning of Nov. I had a simpel legging and a lightweight zipoff pants. Easy to layer for those extra cold days. I also...

Best Ultra Lightweight Sleeping Bags for the Pilgrimage in March-April

I havent had to treat my Sea to Summit TR1 for bedbugs yet, but if I have to I would do it with steam. Could try to ask a drycleaner (tintoreria), or a car cleaner might also have a steamer
