The botafumeiro is out of use at the moment for repairs. Unlikely to be back before June at the earliest. And even then it will only be guaranteed to be used on a set number of occasions in the liturgical year unless private funding pays for its use at another mass.
@Robo was at the premiere and posted about it in this thread: https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/new-camino-movie-the-way-my-way-world-premiere.86245/#post-1245532
Because so many Camino-related videos I have seen seem to have nothing original or profound to say about walking the Caminos. Instead they are all too often the equivalent of a dog peeing on a lamppost - simply someone announcing to the world "I was here!".
Numbers on the Camino Frances are now fifty times more than they were when I walked it for the first time. At what point in the past should that growth have been halted? And how would you have managed that? Realistically I think that most of those who will want to walk a Camino will have already...
True. But responses might have been better tailored to the specific need if the OP had stated from the start that his/her query was related specifically to a Schengen visa application rather than simply a Compostela and that the Confraternity of St James mentioned in the original post was the...
Thanks @Robo . I'm pretty cynical about Camino movies and always a tad suspicious even though my friend Johnnie Walker is actively promoting this one. He seems to be having a whale of a time in Oz anyway! I hope the film makes its way to somewhere near me eventually. Though I'm not quite...
In the pub waiting for my mixed grill to arrive. The ex-railway cycle path has a number of information boards. One points out an odd piece of local history. What is now a grassy field with sheep and lambs was once a large military camp set up in preparation for D-Day. The first paragraph of the...
Not yet. As far as I know the only confirmed general distribution so far is for Australia. The film is to be shown at a film festival in Croatia soon and there are crossed fingers for European distribution as a result of that. Crossing the pond may be some way down the line.
What makes this one stand out from the others? On the whole I am not a great fan of Camino movies or videos. Why would I want to see this one in particular?
No. No one has to register their Camino anywhere in advance. The only obligatory registration is with the pilgrim office in Santiago on completion of your Camino and even then only if you want to receive a Compostela.
You need to ask for a vicarie pro dedication to be added to your Compostela.

Just had a look at the properties of methane. Less dense than air and therefore another possible lifting gas. On routes like the Primitivo where there is frequent access to fabada asturiana and sidra natural it might be a useful alternative...
It seems that the tv series has generated quite a bit of interest in the route. The official website has received half a million visits since the programmes were released.

I'm one of the bare minimum sort. On my last Camino Frances I just collected sellos from the albergues I stayed in and didn't bother with two per day after Sarria as I had no intention of asking for a Compostela. I only used one side of the SJPDP credencial. Some people might use up two or three...
Walk the Sanabres rather than the Frances and enter the city that way? I find that more attractive than the route in from Monte do Gozo. But Santiago is a large city and you have to pass through some "ordinary" Spain before you reach the cathedral whatever route you choose. Like the suburbs of...
