Free Airport Shuttle from Booking.com, is it real?

B.com also "sells" shuttle services. Providing free taxi service for you may be one of their promotion strategies. I have reserved one for my trip in France next month to see how it works although I am very satisfied with SunTransfers when using its shuttle service in Europe and Southeast Asia...

Guardia Civil returning lost passports to owners

Malicious people would make use of the passport or/and information in the passport to forge identity. As such, I wouldn't take any chance and immediately report the lost of the passport.

First Camino - Nervous and with questions about the start

My experience was in 2017 and I think it wouldn't has changed much ;-) #1) when stepped out of the albergue around 7:30 am, there were already many pilgrims on the street(s). I just followed them. #2) I was/am "a snail", not even a turtle, on the Napolean routel, I reached the Albergue in...

    Backpacks Check-in or carry-on

When I flew Air Canada for my CF serveral years ago, their check-in counter in the airport provided me a large see-through plastic bag to "contain" my backpack and hiking pole as one a large bag and security-scan / checked it at a diffenret place, no hassel. Not many airlines provided such...

    Using Airalo app on CF

I don't Airalo performance on CF. When I used it two weeks ago in Thailand, it was connecting to a 3G network where 5G was popular.

Do you need to stay at an albergue to access their luggage transfer service?

In my experience, some don't. But they would direct the luggage transfer service sending the luggage to a nearby bar/cafe for you to pick up from it. The bar/cafe has a specific place to "store" the luggages. If the luggage is required to be delivered to next stage, it needs to be placed in a...

    Hitchhiking on the Camino?

I also think it's not advisable to get into a vehicle not knowing the driver, etc. When I needed a ride on the CF, I went to a cafe and asked the storekeeper to arrange a taxi, It was about ne Euro per kilometer in 2019.

First Time Pilgrim - What Day Bag?

In addition to other comments, the backpack has a chess strap. A back support strap is also desirable.

How often do you take a break?

When I do my trail walk, which is part of my physical and mental fitness program, I walk fast and hard. When I walk Camino, I'm primary a pilgrim, as such, I try to stop by chapels, churches, shrines, cathedrals. I'm also a casual tourist. I walk and take rest at will.

    Electrolytes

My favourite "electrolytes" on CF and CP was freshly squeezed orange juice. It is delicious and relatively inexpensive.

Steep passes on camino frances sjpd to logrono (fear of heights)

When I was preparing for my first Camino Frances walk by watching videos in YouTube, I paid attention to trail surface, elevation, etc. Some videos showed some trails looked like near "cliffs", which was not my "cup of tea". When I actually walked CF, the conditions were not that scary and...

Experience with waterproofing spray for cloth walking shoes?

Even though "stuff" made of Gore-tex is a little bit pricy, it saves me not to carry spray-can and time to re-spray. A quality Gore-tex material is waterproof, breathable, and windproof.

    New albergue coming in Braga

While in Braga, Portugal, you may want to find time visiting the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, a UNESCO site. It was quite a workout for me climbing steps in many "zip-zap like" stages to the top, but rewarded a good meal at reasonable cost in a restaurant at the top! The Braga Cathedral...

I've walked the Camino in barefoot shoes

In my humble opinion, folks who require "cushioning" for their feet and/or "stability" of their walks, "barefoot" shoes may not be good for them. I think barefoot shoes are good for a short distance when I need a "short" reflexology session. ;-)

    Celebrating my old age

In my "community", 65 - 75 is junior senior, 75 - 85 is senior, 85 and beyond is senior senior.
