    My new backpack from Gregory

In 2012 I actually returned my Osprey pack for a Gregory… I loved my Gregory! In 2023 the zippers started breaking but well earned I had done thousands of miles with it. Gregory is now owned by Samsonite!!!! Just sharing, I have no idea if that’s good or bad news. My new Gregory , same model...

My buff has been so necessary!

Absolutely one of my must haves! A wool buff is my preference, I get two one on each wrist and they end up on my neck, hair, everywhere!

    Jeans on the camino

I’m not advising you wear jeans with what I’m about to share, I think you can figure that out without advice. But it made me think of a first hand witness… almost 30 years ago my brother hiked the full AT, I think a six or seven month endeavor, I don’t know the details I was young and blogs...

As I pack for my Camino- I wanted to share my cutting board

We’ve carried many rocks in our pack, it’s one of my many mental illnesses, Rocks speak to me- lol Especially if a heart!!! My daughter carried a piece of slate from France to Santiago ( F & M) and for Christmas painted a camino shell on it. It sits in my kitchen! We are an odd bunch. But...

As I pack for my Camino- I wanted to share my cutting board

We do! We also carry an extra plate for the unexpected guest that might join us, and on the hike of the six of us together we carried an extra hammock for the occasional pilgrim who wanted to sleep out with us. The extra hammock did get used. This trip, just being two of us we won’t take an...

As I pack for my Camino- I wanted to share my cutting board

It's about 5 inches by 3 inches. It's a size my son, who was 15 at the time, determined, as he is the one who surprised me with it, having used the previous year's Christmas tree wood. He did treat the wood with special lemon oil and studied up on what to do. The little "handle" is actually...

As I pack for my Camino- I wanted to share my cutting board

I'm not certain if I have ever taken the time to share this, but since I am packing it this very minute I thought I would as it means the world to me in my backpack belongings. When my kids and I did Le Puy-Santiago (Finistere and Muxia) we lucked out to meet with MendiWalker in Bilboa, he's a...

Hoka one one torrent starting to break after 10 days

Ughhh I just typed up a long response and lost it. My first Hokas were in 2013 before many had even heard of them, they were Stinsons and I did the Norte and Inglais in them, they were beyond fantastic. I had done the Frances in Brooks and suffered a lot. My 2013 Stinsons looked almost the same...

Has anyone used a trekking umbrella?

I thought I’d add, as this image is of five of my kids with theirs... that we still have them! We have had some spikes come loose but have fixed them easily with thread ourselves. We are discussing an attempt of the Appalachian Trail. On the trail you usually earn a name. My kids said I already...

    Hiking Skirts

I’ve hiked in my Macabi and have loved it, but our last camino I bought Purple Rain skirts for my daughters and myself and really loved the fabric and comfort. The gal who makes them is awesome!

    Keen Sandals???

My son switched to his Keen leather sandals after the Le Puy route leaving five days in the Pyrenees, the full Norte and a romp to the Ocean ALL done in his Keen sandals. He sang the whole way! Splashed in mud puddles and loved them! I’m entertaining doing the GR10 in them!
