Base training level-future Camino at least a year away?

If you have no immediate plans for a Camino what do you aim for in terms of walking/training weekly? I let my hiking/walking slack off this summer - did a 4.5 mile hike this am and noticed it. I'm a 67 yo woman and I think my days of getting in shape quickly for when I do do another Camino in a...

    Descent into Portomarin

I remember the part that's crazy is very short and was doable for a portion sliding down on my butt. What gave me more angst was crossing that stupid bridge....

    Walking the Camino with parkinson's

Sounds great but not sure I could pull it off. still working full time although mid-october through mid-December my slow period. I could probably physically carry the pack but honestly I'm afraid of balance issues. If you feel strong enough I'd say do it w

    Opinions on Meseta

The two times I have walked the meseta I've had life-changing insights and made life-long friends. A word of caution however. I also struggle with heat issues and I've only walked it in early November/ late October. not sure I could do it in August....

    Where do ( did ) you walk ( locally ) in 2023?

I'm on a 2 day retreat in Sedalia CO. Beautiful grounds but the most I could handle physically, emotionally, and spiritually was the 2-mile loop on their open space.

LIVE from the Camino On my way tomorrow!

Lee i always enjoy reading your posts. I'm sure you don't remember, but you were the first peregrina I met, on my first camino, October 2018, both on the same bus to Pamplona, then same bus to SJPP. I'll always remember your friendliness toward a scared first timer. That camino, between...

    Walking the Camino with parkinson's

Lucky me. Four years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson's. On the advice of my doctor I've been working the exercise, including 2 21 day caminos the last 2 years. The next time I'm back I'd like to do the full Camino Frances but that won't be for three or four years. The disease will...

    Walking the Camino with Parkinson's

i can't speak to dosage but i can tell you what worked for me - good night's sleep (thus the use of private rooms) - pace yourself - hydration - if need arises, taxis ok - i'd start slow - maybe if you're starting SJPP consider ValCarlos - breaks as needed probably sounds like common sense...

Any tips on walking the Meseta in February?

I was on the meseta in November not February but I'd say be prepared for very few cafes (and their accompanying bathrooms) to be open

How Important Was It To You To Do "Full" CF ?

As someone who set aside enough time for their first attempt and failed miserably (bad footware + being an undiagnosed parkinson's person) I have total empathy with those who walk in stages. My second attempt took me from where I left off (Santo Domingo) to Santiago, this time with better...

Wow. Forest fire closes Napoleon route.

I'm not getting that. Just the Napoleon route which closes soon anyway. Open to being corrected though

Wow. Forest fire closes Napoleon route.

https://canalperegrino.org/cerrado-el-camino-de-santiago-en-la-frontera-por-incendio-forestal/ Dry conditions remote location. Would be interested in hearing from any pilgrims in the area. I'm 10 days out and long since left SJ.
