an amazing beach! the problem is, the best beaches are only accessible by car, I mean, the bus from Santiago to Fisterra, where you find unbelievable beaches, is at least a couple of hours long each way.
Galicia has plenty of STUNNING beaches, now, how to get there from Santiago is a different story, unless you have a car.
As Trecile suggest above, Coruña is a safe bet; as an alternative, the area near Vigo has interesting beaches too, Fisterra or Muxia, for example, have fabulous beaches too...
very happy to read you made it, the last hour in a 34 km stage can always be dragging, but you made it, and that is great. I go to bed a happier person to read my post encouraged you.
BUEN CAMINO, you are in the right place, at the right time, Via de la Plata, right now.
Absolutely!
a couple of last minute tips! There are a couple of places to stop in the service area halfway between Real de la Jara and Monesterio; look for "Venta del Culebrín", it is a mythical inn by the roadside and it feels like travelling in time!
After crossing all motorway junction lanes, the path is...
Never heard of leech incidents, I am afraid. The only potential pesk would be ticks in areas where bush is thick, but the CF is perfectly manicured and you will not find none of that. You do not have to cross large bodies of water whatsoever, only a few rivers, and leeches do not grow in moving...
Love Los Rodríguez, that town, Calzadilla has something special , indeed! The altar in the church is absolutely stunning! Tomorrow you will find quite a few streams to cross with no bridge, buen Camino!!!
I, for one, LOVE the tarmac stretch between Castilblanco and the entry to the park leaving Castilblanco at night, the sunrise is looooong and beautiful, and there are lots of birds singing and moving. Love it! Did I understand the last few km are now no longer on tarmac, that is fantastic!!!
Out of those alternatives, I would say the Mozarabe from Malaga to Lucena or Baena would be absolutely worth it (and this tip is from somebody who lives in Granada!). The Malaga branch in the mozarabe is, in my opinion, the most beautiful of all.
That is a quote from

a book written by Antxon Gonzalez Garabain, aka Bolitx.
Every year, on June 21st, the world remembers persons who have suffered a disease that goes under different names in English - Amyotrophic lateral...
My two cents: Easter processions are held by Fraternities (Cofradías) where only members can take part. If you want to carry the "floats" on your shoulders, you have to train with the rest of the crew for a few months ahead of Easter. Those member wearing the spiky hats are also members of the...
People really value that, if they are undecissive and you give them one credential, they see it as a sign and feel more determined to take the leap! The problem is when some thing of you as a credential provider and come back to you time after time for more, that is not what I was meaning todo!
Never had any issue with the Spanish
Policia Local
Policia Nacional
Guardia Civil
or their Guardia Republicana (Portuguese) or Gendarmerie (French) counterparts. Never. And I agree with Rebekah above; Guardia Civil are most helpful, but if you are up to no good they do seem to have a sixth...
this is only a small part of the whole scene, about 40% maybe, I forgot to mention the giraffe, actually! There were lots of other characters, I was there on my own at 9 in the morning on a beautiful, cool Sunday morning.
You can actually see the whole scene on Street View, they even hava a...
more and more things come up!
This is in Roales del Pan, Via de la Plata, just outside Zamora, a small private garden with lots of weird lifesize figures; the wicked wolf, little red riding hood, a half naked mermaid, a pilgrim, a few dwarves... just weird!
