    Chilly camino

Your avatar clearly indicates you are a fluffy bear and those indeed should fear rain as they get all soaked up! BTW, who is the guy posing to the left of you?

If you bribe me well I might stop my rain dance rites I have been performing for days now ...

Any advice on the coastal stretch from Tarifa to Línea de la Concepción?

Tank you! Brilliant. This is exactly the kind of information I need  Now all I need is some luck that I will be able to take off enough time in March 2025 :)

Any advice on the coastal stretch from Tarifa to Línea de la Concepción?

Thank you! i had the feeling after Algeciras it would get bad ... but I had no idea it would get THAT bad ... Thank you for the warning. In case I will ignore it as I am obsessed with the idea to walk every metre, I have been warned and will expect it to be terrible 🙈

My Buen Camino app is crashing!!

Same problem ... until I uninstalled the app, rebooted the phone and re-installed it.

Any advice on the coastal stretch from Tarifa to Línea de la Concepción?

Still in early planning, but I do consider the Via Serrana for next year and to actually start in Tarifa. I would like to stay as close to the coast as possible on that first stretch leading to the Via Serrana's starting point in La Línea. While the first 10 or 15 km seem to be just beautiful...

Anyone been walking in reverse from Ferrol to A Vila de Bares?

Thank you! It seems to be rather free of potential complications then. Except of course that pilgrim specific infrastructure is more limited. I really hope that I will have enough time left in the end to enjoy that supposedly beautiful stretch of the coast.

Anyone been walking in reverse from Ferrol to A Vila de Bares?

For next year, springtime, I am considering this as the ending of a reverse Camino Inglés: From Ferrol to the northernmost point of Spain / Faro de Estaca. Anyone who ever walked the Ruta del Mar in reverse? How easy would it be to get back from there to Santiago? Early planning time, so I feel...

Silk liners can't take hot dryer? What do if bed bugs?

If you have some time, stuff it in a plastic bag and put it in a freezer for 3-4 days at -20°C ... does the job and would not destroy any fabric, shoes or whatever.

    Did it make a difference

Of course you are right that everything we do and experience affects us in a way, but so does even our daily life. Those of us who say it did not affect us really mean it did not affect us more than the ordinary :) In my life I have done my share of long distance hiking so the walking was no...

    Did it make a difference

the worst ist still to come ... wait until the word still will be replaced by the word again

    Did it make a difference

No. No change after my first Camino and no after my second either – and I never expected it otherwise. The only difference for me is the fine memories and the determination to go on a third in a not so distant future. I guess it depends on your life situation, your state of mind and soul, if a...

    SJPDP vs Sarria for Newby

SJPDP to Pamplona is a rather short stretch. Last time I did it in two days. If I had to stop in Pamplona it would have been rather disappointing for me. If you walk Sarria to SdC you at least will have the feeling of having accomplished something, finished something. But then, as others say...

Where do ( did ) you walk locally in 2024?

Walking a happy dog for her birthday walk

What would you change about the CF - if you could?

I would not change much as I think also the bad and the "ugly" are part of the overall experience. And as one is on the road for 3 / 4 weeks at least, the less nice parts dilute to very little in fact. Also, you appreciate the good things more if you have at least some contrasting things ...

Where do ( did ) you walk locally in 2024?

I took our white lady to the mountains as she is in season and it just does not work out well at home with a young male dog who just discovers his hormones 🙈 . So she and I are sort of outcasts, hiding in a cabin far away from home 🤣 After yesterday's heavy storm, today the weather was just...

Any pilgrims or future pilgrims in the far North of Sweden, Norway and Finland? ... Or even Scandinavia in General

For me, from here to Helsinki is roundabout 900-something k walking .. first walking east for a while, then turning right (south) towards Helsinki (which we call Helsingfors) ... certainly interesting but it will be hard to force enough time off ... 🙈

Any pilgrims or future pilgrims in the far North of Sweden, Norway and Finland? ... Or even Scandinavia in General

Sounds really fun :-) But now, from the far North of Sweden, that is a bit far away. Also to start a Camino from here would be a very big project ;-)

Any pilgrims or future pilgrims in the far North of Sweden, Norway and Finland? ... Or even Scandinavia in General

Hei! :) So you also walked in Germany? Strangely enough I never did that although I spent most of my life in Germany. Now I regret it a bit actually! I guess it was a case of the grass is always greener on the other side ;-)

What pushed or invited or drew you to set off for 'The Camino'?

Yes, I know, but sometimes it feels dull to have so worldly reasons and stories ;-)
