We are thinking of cycling this route on mountain bikes - is that doable? We cycled the Portuguese and Frances routes and survived, although I'll admit the Spiritual section of the Portuguese route and some of those inland hills were hard work. The biggest challenge is the path surface - is it...
Not from.hiking specifically, but after 5vuears of mountain biking in hot climates, we discovered you need to drink a lot more water than you think you need. And add electrolyte replacements, not just salt, but also potassium, magnesium, etc. You have possibly run down your body's reserves from...
Thanks, yes that's why I asked. I have seen a very few mentions of these routes in other posts, and have messaged those people directly but no response.
We want to start from Porto for a bit along the coast and then want to cross from coast to central either at:
1. Esposende to Barcelos or
2.Viana do Castelo to Ponte de Lima.
Has anyone done either?
Does anyone have any further information or GPX tracks for those routes? Supposedly the ecovia...
Hi I want to cross from.coadt to central either at Esposende to Barcelos or Viana do Castelo to Ponte de Lima. Do you have any further information or gpx tracks for those routes? Much appreciated
I would love to get more information about the route from Viana do Castelo to Ponte de Lima. We are cycling on mtb bikes in 3 weeks and want to cross over to Central about here, and stay off roads. Supposedly the Ecovia path along the river is doable. Do you have any gpx tracks or further info...
Do you have a route for this crossing from Esposende to Barcelos? Or gpx track? It would be my choice to cross here but isnt shown in any guide. Thanks
I think too many walkers who have minimal cycling experience think that cycling the "boring bits" will make life easier. They are missing out on some of the best contemplation sections, they dont have the correct safety equipment, they dont know how to handle offroad and they find that actually...
Hi Debi
I would love to know how this route was for you as I am thinking of doing exactly this route? Is it marked? Are there places to get water and food? How difficult was the terrain? Thanks for your info.

Transport Bicycle from Porto Airport to near the Cathedral. Do Bus, Train, Metro allow Bikes?
We fly in and out of Porto Airport and need to get to our hostel near the Cathedral. How do we travel?
Do buses, trains or metros allow bicycles onboard?
It really is beautiful from Sarria to Santiago... beautiful valleys filled with rolling mist, moss covered rocks lining deep pathways covered in trees. Yes probably more people, but maybe dont stay in the main "stages" centres. Lots of beautiful churches, friendly people.
Thank you. Please will those in Spain keep us updated? My 3 sons are due to start walking in St Jean on the weekend so we are anxious about changes. Thanks
Hi Steve
Do you have gpx tracks for the Portuguese route by bike? WE only have a week, so thinking the ride from Porto to SdC is best bet as Ive heard coming out of Lisbon is ugly and industrial... your opinion? Also did you use a baggage forwarding service? I know it is not possible close to...
The brand new albergue Espiritu Xacobeo in A Rua got most things right...new clean bedding, each bunk had its own shelf with light, chargers, etc. Each room of 4 bunks had its own full bathroom ( proper shower, toilet, basin, mirror, towel rails, stool). Fully equipped kitchen, lounge area with...
I live right in the middle of Bangkok, so just buildings everywhere. Been quite a mental adjustment for a South African used to open space and bush. But thanks to all the corona lockdowns, we have truly blue sky today, not the usual polluted grey. Im loving watching the earth recover so fast.
