I walked from Málaga in 2015 so much may have changed since then. But you may find some useful info in my blog - I posted each day with details about landscape, elevation, facilities, etc. lots of photos included. You’re welcome to take a look.
It’s sounding a bit grim Dave, but I’ve read that the scenery really picks up as you go along. Maybe these uninspiring days will make you appreciate the camino Aragones even more 🤞
Thank you so much @filly - you have just made my day. 😍. I shall be walking with my camino pal Paul who has walked many camino routes and rates the Aragones worthy of a second go but wants to start in Jaca as he has cranky knees (as have I) and wants to avoid the descent from Somport.
So we...
Thank you peregrinas for this extremely helpful thread. Hopefully I can follow in some of your footsteps later this year, though I shall most likely be walking shorter stages. Muchas gracias
We stayed in the Albergue which I guess is neither of the places you mention. Just in case it’s of interest, here are my observations from 2018…
The albergue here is at the very top of the very high hill that this town is built on. It was opened three years ago and has two rooms, each with three...
I walked this route back in 2016. I like to camino on a very tight budget and I was a bit out of my comfort zone having to pay for hostels but overall it was well worth it. I think I gave contact info for the places I stayed. Check it out on my blog, starting on day 24. It’s a fabulous, if...
That sounds really scary!
I’ve made an image of your track alongside mine. It looks as though you might have ended up on the other side of the valley. I hardly dare say, but I loved the walk from Mirabueno to Mandayona. What a shame you missed it. Best wishes for easier days to come!
I have such good memories of the exceptional welcome and hospitality we received. Pepe was called away on business so Antonio and Paulino treated six of us to a wonderful evening of food and wine and great stories. Never to be forgotten. Paulino even drove to find us en route the next day and...
So sorry to read that you’ve had such a hard day. I can sympathise about the tendonitis as I have often suffered with extensor tendonitis. Can you organise a taxi back to Puente Arenas tomorrow? 🤞🤞
I would say give the benefit of doubt, whilst continuing to do what suits you best. I think the urge to walk the camino is difficult for some to understand.
I needed to get to Bilbao from Santiago last year and found the cheapest method by far was to take a train to A Coruña and a flight with Volotea to Bilbao. I did stay overnight in A Coruña as I was keen to take a look around. The flight cost me around €14. If the timings work it could be a good...
I walked this stage in 2018. You can scan this QR code to see the track on Wikiloc. There are a couple of stretches on busy road but the vast majority is on beautiful tracks. My recording states 37 km
