This is the "bag" I used for Sept/Oct. I got the 40 deg F quilt. It is extremely light weight and IMO the highest quality quilt made. Many Albergues and hotels DO NOT heat the rooms. So, when it's cold out you will get a chill while walking. You may...
I'll be on that exact route/section mid April. When I walked the first time, I believe the Meseta is where I realized why I was actually walking the Camino, as opposed to why I thought I was walking, or at least what I told myself...and others. I began many days before sunrise and walked...
The rumor is actually true...kinda. There were 900 peregrinos gently dissuaded from crossing into Spain, they were told that Spain had no more Coffee con Leche or croissants, I heard the mass of peregrinos simply returned to the train station and went home.
When I walked in 2012 I didn't see nearly as many injuries as I have this time. Mostly blisters that folks fail to prevent or treat correctly. Imo, watch some youtube on PROPERLY treating hot spots before they become blisters and what to do once they are blisters. Also, in 2012 the luggage...
First of all, there is no perfect choice in gear. So, no obsessing! When it rains I like my boots and full on rain gear, including Gators. When it's warm and dry, I hate the stupid weight of that useless rainwear and hate my boots...so, obviously, I made a bad choice (:. IF I was going to be...
I'm in Los Arcos! There's been a little rain for the past few days. Nothing major, but, enough to test your chosen rain gear. For me, it's rain pants and rain jacket. The pants protect my socks which, prevents blisters. For others who chose rain gear that left the socks exposed, it's...
Just an FYI for those who are planning their Camino and are worrying about availability of places to stay and crowds. What I'm seeing is the crowd travels like a big bubble of people from the end of one section to the next. Very few stay in the middle. So, as has already been suggested, try...
Rain gear is used as a hardshell. A hardshell is worn as a rain and wind barrier as the outermost layer in a good layer system. Maybe they were wearing a hardshell because it was blustery and they were trying to stay warm. Or, they were trolling for someone to notice their poncho and see how...
I'm here now. It's very nice. Rooms are either 4 or 6 to a room, bunk beds are big, bathrooms are single with showers. Very clean. Wifi. Big patio, lounging area. Full kitchen, washer/ dryer. 11e a nite. Located at the top of town behind the supermercado. In 2014 I stayed at the municipal, and...
For those walking the Napoleon route. There is a food truck located at the top of the route, 1km from the border on French side. Hot cocoa, coffee, cold drinks, some food. Also, the water fountain is working 1km past border on Spanish side. Also, the Spanish side has two SOS emergency push...
Just snow on the mtns, none near the CDS. No need for heavy fleece. I wore my lite fleece and a windbreaker. Not that cold. Wind made the walk a real challenge. Stayed at the Orisson btw, incredible experience. Reservation a must.
Or, find an outside table, open a bottle of local vino, set down several glasses and invites others to assist in emptying the bottle. Please post results.
It may sound cliche, however, look within for serenity. The Camino doesn't eliminate others bad behavior, it provides us the opportunity to demonstrate grace in light of such behavior.
I'm sorry, HIS bad temper is not the logical result of the peregrinos placing the pack on the bed, and frankly shouldn't be part of the conversation. Thats simply providing an excuse for HIS poor behavior and blaming the peregrino for this guys actions. This guy is a wrong, period. For those...
I used em in 2012 and they were great. Keep the feet dry when many around me walked in wet boots. This year I'm gambling on the GTX working. We'll see.
Change it up. Your a little burned out. Head to the coast, change the boots to flip flops and chill. Don't check your emails, turn the cell off. You may consider Margaritaville....
Let it alone for a week. Don't stretch it, exercise it, walk a lot, or try new orthotics-yet. Take ibuprofen. Give it a chance early on to heal. Message it several times a day gently, but, deep. In a week start very gentle stretching increasing a little more stretch every day. Change your...
