    Re: Current Lunch Prices

Perhaps to paraphrase: if you want a good lunch at a good price in Spain; do as the local Spanish do.

All trains are full on Renfe (around May 3-7, 2024)

I believe all seats are bookable on RENFE - but you may get a cancellation. If I were you I’d download the ALSA bus app and book a refundable ticket whilst you’re thinking about it.

    Mozárabe from Málaga

The Amigos in Malaga are a really helpful bunch. I met them on their regular evening (Tuesday or Wednesday - it’ll be on the website) about 1Km out of Malaga centro https://caminomozarabedemalaga.com/asociacion/

    App or Book?

They’re different, but each has its place. I also use both.

    Plantar fasciitis.

When I was stricken by PF several years ago a physio on here recommended taping - but with ‘low dye’ - non stretch - tape as opposed to the elastic KT and similar. What you do obviously works for you, but the more rigid tape worked for me. It’s entirely possible that both do the job...

    Clearing Customs in MAD

Always worth checking the destination on the tag affixed to your bag when you check it in. That’s where you should expect to next see it and, if an international flight, take it through customs.

    Clearing Customs in MAD

As you know you’ll have to clear customs before switching to a domestic flight as you’ll be travelling with others who obviously don't need to clear customs on arrival. Only next step after customs is through the one-way doors to landside. On first arrival into Schengen you’ll have to clear...

    Plantar fasciitis.

I have had PF in the past. Medical advice from professionals is always better than random folk on the internet; but since you asked … If you’re substantially overweight, you need to sort that out. Include calf stretches in your exercise regimen. Do you over-pronate? Orthotics or even just...

    Packing List: Welcome All Comments!

A small power bank enables charging whilst you’re not sitting there watching it; otherwise that’s a very light pack.

    Overcrowded Camino Frances

Any advice? It’ll ease off past Pamplona; but in April through May and again in September, this is normal.

    Alert Theft at Roncesvalles

I think I am substantially more at risk of loss through my own carelessness and inattention than from theft. The precautions I would take are pretty much the same, but the motivation is different.

Weather in November on the Frances and the Portugues

The majority of hostales, hoteles and pensiones will be open so private rooms are available. It’s the specifically Camino-orientated albergues which tend to close. There is a website ‘aprinca’ which only opens from November which lists albergues known to be open, and the listings on Gronze and...

Weather in November on the Frances and the Portugues

I’ve often walked in November. Accommodation availability is reduced - but more than sufficient. It’s rarely too warm to walk - and as it’s darker in the mornings and evenings you don’t have to get up at stupid o’clock to avoid the heat. You’ll be lucky to stay dry every day. You’ll...

Camino banner map - where to buy?

Sorry! I should have read more carefully.

Camino banner map - where to buy?

If it all works, that’s great. If not it seems to be available on Etsy Look what I found on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/626806874/poster-map-of-the-camino-de-santiago?ref=share_v4_lx

Where to stay from Tui to Pontevedra

Dries at Casa Alternativa is a really nice guy. I hope his dog Otto is still there.

Pamplona to Burgos in late September 2024 - albuerges and weather?

I’d advise checking the weather forecast right up to the day of departure. I typically walk from mid September through to early April. September can often be lovely and warm and dry - or totally the opposite.

    Pilgrimage or vacation?

“ It's not about you.” We should get that printed on the stationery.

    Parking at SJPP

Consider Biarritz airport long stay parking.
