    It looks as if today's total is just a little short of the 3,000 mark: 2,938 Compostelas issued today. 9,281 in just three days in May. I think these are unprecedented numbers for the time of year. Not sure what conclusions can be drawn from that quite yet but it certainly has surprised me!

    Very unusual to have more than 3,000 at this time of year. More likely in July, August and September. From the solviturambulando website. Shows last year's daily arrival figures in dark red and the 2022 figures as pale pink for comparison.

    The Santiago pilgrim office issued 3,171 Compostelas today. The second time so far this year when the total has been over 3,000. The first was on Good Friday when 3,193 Compostelas were handed out.

    I assume you mean the pilgrim office. At the moment it is open from 9am to 7pm.

    Which feast? 25 June does not appear to be a major festival. Do you mean 25 July? - the feast of St James? If so the chances of getting a seat at the principal mass are minimal. Most of the seats are reserved for official guests.

    There was a post this morning in a Facebook group where one of the volunteers who works in the cathedral sacristy stated that the botafumeiro is still out of use and may be possibly be back in use by June.

    No. A friend asked the cathedral sacristy about it this afternoon and was told there is no definite news on when it will be back in use.
