Our group of 6 stayed at the Alburgue Cruciero de Pedrouzo. Large, a bit chaotic but well run, clean.

The Napoleon route was closed the day we walked. Not sure OrrIson was going to turn away pilgrims that day.
However, the proper thing to do is to call and cancel, of course.
After checking into the Pilgrim's office, we had no idea where to stay. We went a few doors down to 30, rue de la Citadelle, the Gite Buen Camino.
We had a group of 6, so negotiated a decent rate, I think it was 15 euros, and my 11 year old daughter was half price. Breakfast included.

Kelly Ann... we had limited time in Spain, just 3 weeks. Left on April 7th, arrived Madrid the 8th, St. Jean the 9th, started walking on the 10th. Walked into Pamplona on the 13th. Took a rest day / train day to Sarria on the 14th. Walked into Santiago de Compestela on Saturday the 20th...
We did the same thing in April: our family of 6 (11 year old daughter, 16 and 18 year old sons, Mrs. Beeks and I, and her mom) walked from SJPdP to Pamplona, then took the train to Sarria and finished the walk. It was our first time.
Great experience for everyone! St.Jean start, Pyrenees...

Last month, our family of 6 walked from SJPdP to Pamplona, took the train to Sarria and walked to SDC. Our boys were 18 and 16, and my daughter was 11. The kids rocked!
My daughter was a real trooper. I did carry a few things for her, and her water, to lighten her load...
Thanks!
Renfe only lets you see tickets 62 days in advance, or some arbitrary number. If you put in a date for next week, you'll see it.
The train actually goes from Pamplona to Monforte de Lemos, where you have to change trains. There was only a 25 minute layover, and our train was late...
My 11 year old daughter was a bit concerned when she had a top bunk in Roncesvalles. She hugged the opposite wood side, but got over it when she realized she never fell out of her bed at home.
Myself, and several brothers had memorable tumbles off the top bunk growing up, but these were the...
It was closed on April 10. We had reservations at Orisson but oh well.
Every member of our party carried two of these. Very cheap and weigh next to nothing.
We started April 10 in SJPDP, stopping in Valcarlos, Roncesvalles, Zubiri, and Pamplona. The Napoleon route was closed. We then took the train to Sarria and completed our walk the day before Easter, April 20. Spent Easter in SDC, then off to Ponferrada and Madrid, returning home April 28.
Our...
Nice pictures.... what section was the snowy one? Behind you by several days. Flying Sunday, departing SJPdP on Wednesday. Looks like it's Valcarlos for us.
Buen Camino!
