I have no idea whether any cyclists ride up the zig zag footpath and what this would do for erosion. Here is a proper map, perhaps it can help with your decision-making?
The OP is not walking (or cycling) on a Camino de Santiago in Spain but on the GR 65 from Le Puy. Doesn't this make a difference, isn't the infrastructure somewhat different?
Asking for a friend who has not walked it yet but is considering it and recently bought the TopoGuide.
Your link to the Hypershell ProX all-terrain exoskeleton points to FoxNews and not to FaceBook. ;)
However, no matter what the news source was, there was a flurry of news articles about this item, including on Yahoo and in the Denver Gazette, because it was going to be presented at some trade...
It is good that you have booked your other [subsequent] stay.
Just for general information: At the time of writing (Monday) there are even still beds available for reservation at Roncesvalles in the coming days, namely now on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday!
Edited to add: This means...
Arrive in SJPP. Go to the Pilgrims Office (Bureau d'accueil des pèlerins). Even on days with the highest influx of pilgrims they have found and/or organised a place to sleep for every single person who came to them and asked for assistance with finding accommodation for the night. On every day...
I sense on opportunity to exploit a market niche: Day rental of outdoor exoskeletons in SJPP to get pilgrims succesfully over the much coveted passes of the Route Napoleon. 😶
I thought at first that this thing was a joke but perhaps it is more than a on-off failure of an idea.
Even after...
The website of the Oficina del Peregrino is back to normal again on this Monday morning. The certificate that caused yesterday's browser notification is now valid for another year. It now says Expires: Monday, 5 May 2025 at 01:59:59 Central European Summer Time.
They have issued 537 Compostelas...
The story about 37 or 39 destroyed standing stones of Carnac are complete nonsense. After the story was blown up by the media including leading French media and international media who just copy-pasted a story they knew nothing about and who used misleading photos like the one in the post above...
When I checked a few minutes ago, the counter was on 876 Compostelas and now it is on 895 Compostelas. So some pilgrims will get their Compostelas today - some might not which was (albeit rarely) the case years ago on the good old peak days ...
Yes, same here. Safari informs that a certificate of the website expired on Sunday, 5 May 2024 at 01:59:59 Central European Summer Time.
Let's see how long it will take them to fix it ... it's Sunday today ...
Just in case readers get confused by the thread title and the ongoing discussion about the weather situation that had to be reckoned with on the highest parts of the Route Napoleon about a week ago, and on other aspects: No snow is expected on the higher parts of the Napoleon route for the...
Yes. And people who are on their first Camino, who come from far away and who have never done anything like this before are surprised and even disappointed when they find that, upon their arrival in Roncesvalles or Zubiri or even Pamplona on a weekend, beds are not plenty and not waiting for...
I've just played my indicator game again. ;)
For the current week 5-12 May (Sunday to Sunday) it still looks very busy on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday for Roncesvalles, less busy on Wednesday, and very busy again on Thursday - that's the 9th of May and Ascension Day and a public holiday in...
The article also says that the farmer was moving the cows from one area to another, located on either side of the Cañada Real through which the Vía de la Plata passes. While news reports are not always reliable, it seems that the herd was on the move anyway.
This is a terrible incident where...
Hi @digitalgerry, I am of no help for opinions on the Shell Toucher hat - I am of the opinion that any hat will do 🤭 - but since it may not be obvious to everybody, here is the screenshot and the link (www.shelltoucher.com) to the hat you are curious about:
My first thought was "dog" so I put peregrinos perro into Google News and this came up immediately:
https://lacronicadesalamanca.com/576933-el-perro-de-uno-de-los-peregrinos-espanto-a-la-vaca/
Unfortunately, these rare and serious attacks of walkers by a cow often involve the dog that...
@pjacobi: Please note that the OP @Bedspring is from the UK. It says so in the profile information and in the first post ("In the UK we would write").
We here on the Continent still regard the UK as part of Europe. Even when our common motto (it is "United in Diversity" - very appropriate...
I was looking for a photo that showed this when I noticed that some embellishment work or other had been done to the site a year ago or so. But that is aesthetics and not structural.
My rational side thinks that the photo is a gimmick and the headline is attention-seeking.
The arch had been subject to consolidation work by a specialised company when a piece of masonry hit a school van that was driving through the arch at the same time. Nothing of this sort of repair work...
Beyond the shadow of a doubt: When is says fecha de entrada and has been communicated to you from an albergue in Spain then 2024-06-05 means 5th June 2024.
Tip: You asked about communication of a date to you so this is about general communication: In English, when discussing dates for a...
